I came to this post to find light as i have an urgent need to relocate to a good host, with, yes, an affordeable deal..

i must say, IT'S LIKE A FREAGIN WARZONE HEAR!!!!
IT SEEMS THAT THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A GOOD HOST ANYMORE! .

I came here with PowwEb in mind.. saw soo many terrifying complaints.. i got discouraged.. i went back on my hosting hunt.. this and that.. yada yada.. then i found a banner in this forum that lead to HOSTDEPARTMENT.... i went there and checked out their packages.. then i chatted with their support.. spoke with a guy "isaac" for almost an hour questioning this and that.. I ACTUALLY WAS CONVINCED! Specially with that feature that lets me HOST MULTIPLE DOMAINS ( IM DESPERATE FOR THIS)... plus 400 email accounts.. and all that.

I was getting ready to purchase a whole year hosting with a smile on my face, going for my card.. then decided to do last minute host check on this website again just to make sure.. THEN I FOUND RECENT THREADS REGARDING QUESTIONABLE ISSUES ABOUT THEM>.....

IS THERE NO END TO MY SEARCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AAAAAAAAARGGGGGGGGGHHHH!!!@@####!@#$@@!!!

THIS HOSTING SH** IS SOOOO F*CKD UP!

It breaks my heart to find out that the company that got me REALLY CONVINCED (hostingDepartment) turned out to have an awful reputation..

PS
ya guys know of any host similar to them?? I'm not even gona say the word "good" anymore..

I know!, I've been with 4 hosts in the last couple of months, and all of them have gone down, and lost all of my data! :bawling:

What sort of hosts are you looking for? Ones that provide huge amounts of bandwidth and space for next to nothing. If that's the case, then I understand why you're having problems.

If you're looking at the slightly more expensive hosts, then maybe you've just had some bad luck :(

P.S.
You get what you pay for.

Yup... I'm here to find a quick (upload tonight) reliable and cheap host (<$5pm). The site's current host is down and I've had it with them.

Yes, I know, you get what you pay for, but I can't pay top whack for all my sites (I have many) and I do need to spread them around.

If you run huge bandwidth sites, then I don't know what to tell you. If your sites don't take all that much bandwidth, you can find reliable hosts that cost only a few bucks more. Like us for example, but advertising is a no no in this forum so [insert traditional schpiel here] heh heh

The issue with HostDepartment is still waiting to be cleared up, so we are not yet 100% sure...

Well it's NOT high bandwidth for me.... about 1GB per month. I need it to be there though... not down with no response from the hosting company.

I'm scanning now... looking for a cheapie with a telephone number on their site (a good indication that there might just be someone there to set it up - and they might be there downstream if needed).

As long as you're willing to pay $10 a month, you'll have your pick of reliable hosts.

$10 a month seems to be pretty much, an unwritten law, as far as reliable hosting.

ya'll dont gota lecture me on "you get what you pay for"... believe me, i know that.. however, i need to relocate some simple websites that doesnt really require a $10/mo ++ hosting.. i've been with OCS Solutions and they've been great! However, there is a(confidential) urgent need for me to find a hosting company like hosting department.. particularly with the feature of MULTIPLE DOMAIN HOSTING.

I dont mind paying $10 a month if I can host 3 of my clients (small websites) in that one account... I REALIZED IT IS REDICULOUS TO GET A MINIMUM OF 50 MB HOSTING for each of the sites i have that only has 10MB max... I'm currently paying $6 /mo for each.. when I can host all of them in one account.. HostingDepartment's features are great... we;;, PERFECT.. what I was looking for... too bad it seems to be nothin but BOOOLSHIET... I hope the issue gets cleared out soon..

I'm sooo tired of looking for a host..

I don't know exactly what you need, but my host has multiple domain hosting if you ask for it, and the prices are good, and support is fine and they have a forum as well where you can ask questions.

Most good hosts will allow it's clients to make use of domain parking/addons and if not they sell them cheap (ie, 3 addons / $3)
which would make hosting multi sites on one account super easy.

I think it's one thing to have several domains pointing to the same page, but not all hosts allow multiple sites under one account. There was a therad resently about a host turning off a site that used subdomains, claiming they were seperate sites.

If you take care of several different sites for friends etc. you need true multidomain hosting.

ok.. i found a company AGAIN :

http://www.myacen.com

They do offer what I need (desperately)..... so, ok, "TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG WITH THEM" .. i know something's wrong, or bad again..

need to host 2-5 domains
150-250 MB
2-5 GB/mo
Plenty of mail accounts
good control panel
PHP, mySQL (the worx)

etc

Nothing's wrong at all with Myacen. They have an excellent reputation.

Wow. Have things really become this bad for the end users? Sheesh. No wonder low cost hosts are discriminated against. There are those who are low cost, who do provide quality support. Seek and ye shall find.

like i said... I have 3 full websites i need to transfer.. they all utilize their own emails and mySQL databases, each use a total of 30MB below and generate a total bandwidth of 2GB below.. (barelly even reaches 1 GB for all three)..

right now im paying a $4.95/mo hosting for each.. that package has a capability of 100MB and 2GB transfers... dang, I could host all three websites in one account.. now i gota transfer all three to a new hosting account, EACH! Tht's just rediculous...

I just want to get a hosting account that'll let me utilize my resources properly/FAIRLY.

nevertheless, myacen seems to be my solution... but, i'm not sure yet, if their fa-real, or just a another bucket of BS

Shed some light Anyone?

Good luck, and remember, not ALL hosts are bad. As long as they are nice and friendly and work WITH you, you shouldn't have a problem. Myacen seems like a nice person from what I read here at WHT. :)

Hello,

I used to work for Myacen and I still host a domain there (although I don't actually use it for anything other than email or when i'm bored writing scripts). Robert is a nice guy and very good to work with and I enjoyed my time there. The way he deals with clients is very good and you'll be happy there:D.

The jist is that Myacen is a solid company which providers good and reliable support with quick responce times :D:agree:

No problems so far! It's SRLhosting.com

Although I am not hosted by them yet, I would consider their plans. If you do, why not give us your opinion?
After all it's only about kindly sending some money to Merry Old England (or Britain rather)!
