I dont know much about VEs and how the work. From what I've heard you cannot have 1 Cpanel license for a few Virtuozzo VirtualEnvironments on the same server. Is that correct?

El Pollo Sup 11-28-2002, 05:19 PM you need 1 cpanel license for each virtual environment. we are planning to launch our VPS service by offering virtuozzo virtual environments with cpanel. darkorb has special pricing for virtuozzo which makes it very attractive. HostInspect 11-28-2002, 05:38 PM From experience, they won't be able to work anyways with multiple VEs, because each VE has its own IP. Shiekron found a way how to do it with the Virtuozo template, since the template sits in 1 central VE, all the other VEs can run CPanel, and use it with 1, but we aren't doing that. -Brandon Eryxma Networks Support Kulman 11-28-2002, 05:51 PM Originally posted by El Pollo Sup darkorb has special pricing for virtuozzo which makes it very attractive. how attractive? :) HostInspect 11-28-2002, 06:02 PM Does $7/month sound good? Though Eryxma gets it cheaper than that I believe, but its a price at $7.00/month. So far as I looked and talked to DarkORB they have nobody buying those licenses.........but us :) weee.. Attractive enough? -Brandon Eryxma Networks Support Kulman 11-28-2002, 06:21 PM Not bad! That changes the whole perspective of things :) Haze 11-28-2002, 08:21 PM From what I know, there are still some problems with virtuozzo, the main ( maybe the only ) one being that it can not support quota ( at least the RedHat ) version. Has anyone found a way around this? HostInspect 11-28-2002, 08:25 PM *sigh* http://www.*******.com/en/news/id,1503 New features of Virtuozzo include: • Improved ‘smart migration’ of VEs (drag and drop) between physical servers with only a few seconds of planned system downtime. Large VEs can now be moved as quickly as small VEs. • OS template support for Linux (Red Hat 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, SuSE, Debian), FreeBSD • Performance enhancements: 64GB of memory and 16 CPUs per VE, new support for Intel Hyper-Threading Technology • 2-level disk quotas – Can manage disk quotas for each VE and setup quotas per user inside a VE • Improved journaling filesystem support (ext3 and ReiserFS) in addition to ext2 • VzAgent – open and well documented XML-based API SWsoft tested third-party hosting applications like Plesk™, C-Panel™, Sphera™, H-Sphere™, and Confixx™ running inside a Virtuozzo-based VPS. I see you don't know enough  -Brandon Eryxma Network Support Haze 11-28-2002, 08:29 PM Woah, wasn't expecting those changes for a couple of months. Thanks for point that out! Kulman 11-28-2002, 09:32 PM Do you know how version updates are implemented for Virtuozzo? HostInspect 11-28-2002, 10:12 PM Version updates? You must be looking for the 2nd half of Virtuozo. Itself, to update it, requires some work, and well the best way is to get another machine, and migrate there, then remove the old machine and reinstall the software, with it alone. Updating without the 2nd half, it isn't as easy.... Trust me. -Brandon Eryxma Networks Support |
