I have unmanaged dedicated server, and I don't know very much about reboot stuff.
First of all where do I do reboot in CPanel 5 - WHM?
The problem is that I can't always be at my PC, so I'am looking for some kind of software that will send me an e-mail and notify me that my server is not working, and I must reboot it.
OR there is a software that will automatically do reboot??
By the way, I still don't have DSL connection(maybe in two months) so I'am not always online.
Server: RedHat Linux 7.3 and Apache 2, CPanel 5 - WHM.
Suggestions?
Thank you,
Diana L.
If you are using WHM, it will try to restart apache and some other services automatically, when it's down.
When you need to reboot the server, you can do it from WHM, or simply type
reboot
from by SSH.

On the left hand side of your root WHM there is a Server Reboot pane...in it are 2 options: Graceful Server Reboot
and Forceful Server Reboot.

Check this out:
http://www.r-fx.net/sim.php
The purpose of this shell app, is to provide a simple, effective and portable service/system monitor, geared towards web servers. The plans for this project are to try and monitor critical web services and any factors witch may directly effect them (e.g.: system load).
It does this by consistently verifying that services are online, load averages are in check, log files are at reasonable sizes and various other features that help streamline the management of your servers. Nonetheless SIM has features to restart downed services, run configurable commands when the load is at dangerous levels as well as a full email & command line alert system to keep you informed of SIM's various events and actions.
Features:
- Service monitoring of HTTP, FTP, DNS, SSH, MYSQL & more
- Event tracking and alert system
- Auto restart ability for downed services
- Checks against network sockets & process list to ensure services are online
- HTTP log size monitor, to avoid segfaults from apache due to large logs
- URL Aware monitoring, to ensure HTTP does not 'lockup'
- System load monitor with customizable warnings & actions
- Ability to auto restart system with definable critical load level
- Informative command line status display
- Easily customizable configuration file
- Auto configuration script
- Auto cronjob setup feature
- Simple & Informative installation script
