Hi.

What is the best intrusion detection software for Linux? For example even though the box is locked down tight with firewalls, what is a good software that can inform you if a scanning, brute force attempt etc is underway?

Please provide URL, cost (free hopefully :D ), and other relevant information such as your experience. Thanks a lot guys!:D

Snort... (www.snort.org) - not the easiest to setup from what i hear but very good indeed.... Will take some playing/tuning to get it to work for your needs.

Cost ... FREE ....hehe, who says good things cost
