As said above it very much depends on your needs (and perhaps abilities). If you just need a cart then most shared hosts will be able to help you.

Like the others said, there are many options and variables that go into this. A good place to start is the offers page here on WHT. The most important thing is that you do good and thorough research of any prospective companies by doing a search here on WHT and searches on Google. Makes sure there are no negative reviews of the company, see what others have to say about their services, make sure they have good support, etc.

I think you might find your answers from recommendation hosting companies on the official sites of those popular e-commerce scripts like zen-cart, osc, PrestaShop and others. :)

I use zen-cart for my own sites, I think bluehost and hostmonster would be the best.

It really depends on the features you are looking for. I have advised some of my clients in the past to use ecommerce hosting services by Netfirms. Its reliable and pretty easy to set up

It depends on what you are looking for but I have nothing but good experiences with Intermedia.net. With the occasional support issues that did arise, I was able to quickly get a knowledgable support tech on the phone and resolve the issue immediately.

My frined has also suggested for planet.com. ha is pretty satisfied. I myself checked it. Looks good resource.

I can't speak about the scale of your hosting/server requirements, but our servers have been with Rackspace for many years and have had nothing but great experiences.

For me it's about the support. When we have a server issue we want it resolved instantly, and Rackspace to date has not let us down, so I'll put a solid recommendation behind them. Fair warning though, I do not think that Rackspace is the most affordable solution around, so if you are on a tight budget you might need another option.
