The Lax Forums

Would you all think it was unwise to create a domain name with THE in it? My site is The Lax Forums and the url is www.TheLaxForums.com. I will either renew it, renew it and get laxforums.com, or just get laxforums.com. which do you guys think is best?

Well laxforums.com is already registered. Hopefully you were the one that is now in control of that domain.

Personally I wouldn't consider using a different domain for your forum as it was built upon thelaxforums.com which seems to be working fine for you. If you can get laxforums.com, you could always redirect it to thelaxforums.com.

Why dont you search for a keyword related domain instead? It will help you on SEO

You can buy both and use both. Redirect old one to new so you dont lose any traffic.

I think there's no problem in branding of your forum even if your domain name has "the" in it. But if you're planning to sell the domain name in the future, then the "the" inclusion in your domain will have an effect on its price and attractiveness.

In fact, your present forum name sounds prestigious for me ("it's not just a petty Lax forum, it's THE Lax Forum"). LOL.

If it's working then why change it, especially if the .com without "the" in it is taken.

Redirect the new domain to your existing domain as it is good.
