i have superlongdomain.com and tinydomain.com for a client of mine.

this client has about 20 employees and therefore about 20 email addresses.

we started with the emails using the superlongdomain.com host email services and once we got tinydomain.com they wanted to switch their email addresses to the shorter domain name but also wanted to get email to the old domain.

via godaddy i am forwarding each email address from the shorter domain name to the longer domain name...one at a time. it is a pain to manage with employee turnover (dropping and adding new addresses).

i was hoping there is a global email address function. meaning any email to tinydomain.com gets forwarded to the respective account on superlongdomain.com automatically with no maintenance for me.

is there such a product/function that a registrar handles?

if not, can this be handled in the DNS somehow? i have searched a few times and found nothing to do this globally.

thanks.

What mail server are you using? You should be able to set it up to accept mail for both domains and add an alias to each account with the alternate username, or do some sort of address rewriting...depending on which server you're using.

sorry, i wasn't clear. i have my site hosted at hostway and yes, i believe i can add-on a service for them to accept another domain on the mail mail server. but it is expensive.

i was hoping to find a way to do it for free at the registrar or hosted DNS level. maybe i am dreaming.

registrar: godaddy
dns: dnsmadeeasy
host: hostway

What control panel do you use for the web hosting account? Most control panels have a built-in function for this. For example, in cPanel it is called Domain Forwarding (http://docs.cpanel.net/twiki/bin/view/AllDocumentation/CpanelDocs/EmailFowarders#Add_a_Domain_Forwarder).
