Hello everybody,

I'm looking for a car, so I need some of you all's help. This will be my first car so I cannot spend too much money on it. In fact I cannot go too far over $4000 and it's actually even better if the price doesn't go above that. I am also looking for a sports car.

Whoever finds something, please list it. Let's see what you all can find. BTW, I found this car (http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/vdetail.jtmpl?car_id=115553198&dealer_id=629335&make=MIT&distance=100&max_price=4000&model=ECLIP&advcd_on=n&end_year=2003&min_price=1&certified=n&address=75034&search_type=used&advanced=n&start_year=1995&color=&car_year=1995) but I can't get it because my dad says it has too many miles on it, and if he says that he won't help me pay for it then I got no chance

Now let's see what ya'll can find.......

Well if he won't help you pay for it, why not buy it yourself?

Don't forget to factor in insurance and gas and maintance as well into your budget.

I don't have a job, so my dad will pay for the car but he doesn't want to pay much more than $4000. However, I think I will have to pay for the gas and maybe insurance.

Whoever find something, plese post the picture or the URL of the car. Thanks!

This one (http://www.res.otaru-uc.ac.jp/~makio/chp12/T-FORD.GIF) should not be that expensive...

This one should not be that expensive... That one would be quite expensive.

Now to the car situation. As incredible as this sounds, there is actually a guy from near you (I think he's around Grapevine) who sells quite a few vehicles on E-Bay and has built an excellent reputation. I haven't dealt with him personally, but my father-in-law almost bought a van from him. I'm afraid most of his auctions are above your price, but it doesn't hurt to check.

'94 Camaro? http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/vdetail.jtmpl?car_id=116176058&dealer_id=&make=CHEV&distance=25&max_price=4000&model=&advcd_on=n&end_year=2003&min_price=&certified=n&address=75034&search_type=used&advanced=n&start_year=1982&color=&car_year=1994

Well, at least the Firebird's a V8, but it's not a TA, so it's probably a 305, not a 350. The 6cyl Camaro is probably better as far as reliability is concerned. But it is lacking in the coolness department.

You're dad's probably right about the mileage. There are probably like 48485868 things wrong with the car. When you're dealing with a car like that, sporty little thing with a manual tranny, you're bound to be getting it from some kid who jackassed it around and broke everything.

On a semi-related side note, I just bought a car today! w00t! :D

Not picking it up till next week.

96 Jeep Grand Cherokee. :D

Normally, I wouldn't buy one, since they look nice, but are usually a headache, but this one's actually from my mechanic, who rules! :D

Firebirds and Camaros are going to cost a fortune to insure.
You can probably find an older Mazda Miata at your price.
A Pontiac Sunfire/Chevy Cavalier would be a good choice and you can probably find a late model at that price.
Same with a Mazda Protege. Not the sportiest looking but the sticks are fun to drive. Good low end torque.
A Pontiac Grand Am, 2-door with a V6 has good pull for the weight and is cheap to run and insure.
If you want real power, look for a 1990-1995 Nissan Maxima or on of my favorites, a Lincoln Mark VII (1990-1993).

You dont want that mitsu it is sssslllloooooowwwww, You said you were looking for a "sports car" but are you looking for a muscle car ie: iroc z, GTA, mustang or are you looking for a honda accord with a 8" fart can?

My suggestion to you is forget the sporty part of the deal and get something that is going to be dependable. I had a 90 Accord LX that I got for 4000.00 /w 90k miles on it and put another 90k on it with needing nothing but a radiator and usualy maintainence.. I know it will prob go in one ear and out the other but I have been there and at your age and financial status you want reliability not speed.. usually speed = $$$ because your always beating the $hit out of it thus breaking things..

I would recommend getting a vehicle check through CarFax on every car you're seriously considering. I used to work at a dealership a long time ago (I'm sure they still do this), and even they roll back miles on used cars to get more money. If car dealers do that, what's to stop a private seller from doing the same? Just some advice :)

1993 Jeep Cherokee (http://www.autobytel.com/content/Buy/Inventory/index.cfm?action=detailfsbo&id=4;4&method=FSBO&used_car_id_int=88365&Used_Car_Type_ch=C&make_vch=Jeep&model_vch=Cherokee&newUsed=New&entered_postal_code_vch=75034&model_vch=Cherokee&displayMiles=23&Dealer_id_int=8469891&searchtype=&numCarsOnOnePage=20)

Just a word of mention that for only $4000, expect a car with over 100,000 miles unless you're lucky. Also, stay away from sportscars owned by young adults because we're not known for taking car of our cars too well.... vrrrrrrooooooommmmm :)

Good Luck,

Oh, dude...if you're gonna go Mitsu, go with the Galant, not the Eclipse. More room for friends. And it's still got some 'get-up-n-go'. I've seen some in your price range too. :)
