Hello Fellow Hosts,

This is the first time I have had to do this.

This is a warning to all web hosts internationally; do not accept Tom Labas as a client for any service whatsoever.

Mr. Labas contacted us via our helpdesk and arranged a deal with us; the deal was $360 US Dollars for four of our plan one reseller accounts. (Note. At this point we were totally unaware of Mr. Labas’s prior dealings).

Mr. Labas urged us to create the accounts, My partner, at 3am that night spent a good amount of time ordering IP’s and creating two of the four reseller accounts, the additional two to be created once payment was received.

A day or so later, Mr. Labas urged my partner to create the third reseller account which he did. He later on went to say, he was just about to go to the bank to transfer us the $360 US Dollars/ $640 Australian Dollars.

I then herd from my partner that Mr. Labas did not want his reseller accounts at all, after some negotiation he turned out buying one custom account for $140 USD.

Although we were somewhat disappointed and annoyed, we continued to help Mr. Labas with his new account and answer any questions, which were asked.

Now, only a little while ago I receive an email from Mr. Labas stating he wants a full refund (Before we have even received payment!).

Not to mention all the phone calls, a tremendous amount of time was spent on Mr. Labas who has turned out to be a deceiving con artist to put it mildly.

A few other points I would like to make about this problem client are

1) His email accounts shows the name “Hosting Shop – Melbourne” which is indeed the name of quite a prominent Australian host.

After alerting Hosting Shop (hostingshop.com.au) to the fact Mr. Labas had been doing this not surprisingly they already knew of the man and had had bad dealings with him as well.

2) After a quick look on WHT Mr. Labas seems to have quite dark hobby of ripping sites.

3) His URL (http://www.*******************.com) is blocked
(www. Web hosting Melbourne.com)

That is all for now, I hope users understand that this post is essential in cutting down and putting to shame con artists like Tom Labas.

Yeah stay clear, rips peoples sites, pulls stunts like he did to you guys - ask the folks at mchost about Big Tom - They will no doubt remember him well :D

sorry to hear about that. But a good lesson was learned. This is the internet, we have had a few bad apples as well.

Yeah, Tom is somewhat troublesome. I believe he was shown the door at MChost.

What happened in the McHost situation?

I just learn't a lot more info on this guy, and yes I belive he was trouble at MCHost.

He was banned apparently off mchost long ago, very old news.... I had his ISP kick him off one time, Telsta I think, with the help of some logs of him harrasing our helpdesk.

Very unsavory charachter, but not very smart.

gosh the list keeps growing.

Choppy is hosting his site now after we terminated him for stealing other providers contents over & over again.

some one should make a site which webhosts order forms intergrate with that scan for "bad" clients.;)

Take his money - when he breaks the rules - no refund. That way the new host who don't know anything about him don't loose any money. And when makeing big accounts or deals, make sure to have payment up front, if it's just a matter of standard and under $10 I guess you can give the customer something before payment.

He's been banned from this forum quite a few times, but comes back. Be aware of who you are dealing with. Get info, get informed.

We have had a few long chats with Tom and yes we are hosting him for about a month now.

I have read all the post on the forums about him this and that. And you cant believe exactly what everyone says about each other.

Even if it is true i have not seen or had anything reported to us since the month his been with us.

I have talked to him about the past issues and apparently has learnt his lesson.

Maybe the difference is that i have his money just like every customer we host. No money no honey. Simple as that.

Im not going against anything that people are saying about him on the forums but i always like to give people another chance.

Just a tip to some host better watch what they say about customers past or present due to the fact that legal issues can arise.

Staying put.. i got the step ahead. All clients know the drill there time to pay comes and there is no funds there account gets switched off.

I told Tom from the start that we would have to keep a close eye on him!

If something happens he goes bye bye simple as that. Then i would make sure he doesnt find any colo, ded server in Australia, in the US or even in India.

It is (And you should have already understood this), it is about the people, and businesses that this person has shown 1 entire year (That i know of), of the very same behaviour.

Who cares what happens to you, personally I expect him to bring your business' name down into the mud.

It is not about you, or your business, it is about yet another host, business, proprieter protecting this turkey. He doesn't all of a sudden turn over a new leaf, he said what he was going to say to make you think he has. Choppy listen please, you're dealing with a very dark charachter and you will get burned by him.

Now what this thread has in respect to you is that you are supporting him by offering his services even after the words by everyone here.

I agree with Samuel entirely.. money is not everything Choppy.. you have to pick and choose sometimes in order to keep your integrity.

Im still trying to figure out where I've seen that layout, but see it doesn't matter.

He will go and buy a template for the time being (I have seen this....), THEN go rip someone.

Thought i would come in on my night off and say that i spoke to Tom once again and he is moving service soon he was using us just to get his sites up until he moved to his won dedicated servers.

Some hosts readying this forum have been contacted by him already.

Thank you all for the huge amount of knowledge and experience about this issue. Money is not everything i agree but you in turn dont know what kind of support people are working for us, they are very security concious. They even told me that its not a good idea to host Tom because of what they read on the forums.

I will give Tom till the end of this month.

No one knows our financials so the " DOing it for the Money " ideas are just not correct sorry. :D

If you look to the start of this thread you will see that we had him for a customer for a few days before we got $#@$@, and now seems like he is very known.

Any other stories on him, or maybe time to leave this thread.

Glad you have spoken up choppy, no offence intended at all.. your buisiness is your business.. just some folks like to see others have a good run and will provide advice and info if deemed necessary.. thats only got to be a good thing :)

Hey Choppy, I had just wanted to let you know my thoughts on Tom. My money comment wasn't meant to seem like it was make or break for you, and I appreciate your willingness to stand behind a customer, knowing what he has done in the past. I do believe you are a concientious and ethical host, especially since you took the time and effort to phone me about a very serious issue. I am glad to hear though, that he is moving on....
