Hello,
last week I made a freeware software, I listed it in major freeware portals. its getting as high as 1GB/day of data transfer, I need to put this file somewere else or I will go broke.
The question: are there any sites that let you put your freeware file for mass downloading ?( somthing like Simtel.net but without having to link to their page, I mean to link directly to the file eg. www.theserver.xxx/thefile.exe )
Please help me out, If I dont find a solution I will have to shut down the page and bye bye freeware :bawling:
Thanks :)

All the suggestions, upload.com, sourceforce, simtel etc will link back to their page. I will be hard pressed to find someone who will not ask for that. If you simply want someone to host the file and to do a direct link, another possibility is to post a request here. There are some nice guys in the hosting business who may be willing to help out a programmer who's giving his software for free. You may want to look at however how you can "reward" this host perhaps by publicly recognising them, add a banner to their site and so on.
It's a give and take world. ;)

On a sidenote, maybe you can tell us what your freeware do. If you happen to be providing a service to the community, some may be more willing to consider your hosting request. For example if I have some surplus bandwidth.

I have found swmirror.com does anybody know how are they?
I dont have any problem to link to Simtel, etc page, or put banner on my website, the problem :( is that some freeware portals ask for a direct link for download and not a download page.
You are right I will post on the hosting request forum and maybe I will get some help.
thanks.
