2002-11-27 - Merchant Our p9olicies which he agreeed to by clicking the box on the order form state that we do not give refunds. Furthermore, I believe this was resolved in email. If a customer does not attempt to contact support then we do not consider them a valuable customer. We cannot read minds.
-------------------------
2002-11-26 - buyer Oh please..I dont need to email you support... I am 12 years experience on webhosting reseller and programming..i look at his site it not good and i would said rate is bad even worse than other web hosting reseller program. I will contact headquather about this job is rip off and scam..
-------------------------
2002-11-26 - buyer I demand to have money refunded to me or I will report to Better Business Beauru and local police department. Thank YOU!
-------------------------
2002-11-26 - Merchant This is Josh, owner of SBYWEB. 1) We do not issue refunds for any reasons 2) CPanel has a bug that some people get, there theme needs to be given a new language file. He did not email support, just demanded cancellation. And again we dont issue refunds.
--------------------------
2002-11-26 - buyer It not follow what they sais on site amd showing 100% clear ..I email to them and cancel my order and refund the money. I want refund the order..
--------------------------

So if you saw my other thread about customers who dont even ask support then you know what this is about. Anyway, does this hosting relocation police exist? sounds like something a little kid would make up. Do you take things like this to the police? I mean whats up with this guy? Do i worry about this or just screw it?

I don't know how long this client was with you, but it sounds like it was very brief and they never really used the service. If that is the case, I, frankly, would have recommended you refund the money and get on with more productive business. Is one month's fee really worth the hassle and the potential trouble he can cause you? Consider yourself lucky to have found out this quickly. Also, it would appear language is a problem and communication would have never been good. Just one man's opinion, but not always best to stick to the letter of the agreement.

Didn't NocSol leave?

Nice of Sbyweb to share this experience with the rest of their clients:

http://www.sbyweb.net/forum/showthread.php?threadid=347

Thread title: No offense, but I've never run into anyone this dumb.

Damn weird people running hosting companies these days. Looks like sbyweb is run by 12 year olds too. You think that posting things like that here and in your own forums is the proper and mature thing to do? Sheesh.

Carboran

Exactly my thoughts, NexDog. I didn't know about that thread, but even this one seemed very unprofessional. He also shared the name of the customer

I find this post unprofessional to. Really what was the point on posting on your forums? What will prospective customers think? Yes this might have been an extreme wierd case. But what if another customer makes a stupid mistake or asks a stupid question are you going to go post there question on the forums to ?

Maturity falls into this category

NexDog
11-27-2002, 10:31 PM
Josh,

I'm not out to flame or cause an argument. Just trying to make you see how your actions may be perceived by others. Having a laugh is a necessity, but you should never do it at a customers expense and so blatantly. Just a good rule of business, that's all. I have a good laugh here every day and I'm pretty flippant myself but I have learned a few lessons here - just wanted to pass them on.

And Carboran just killed me with those last few post. :D

By the way, just took my little boy and girl over the park and for ice cream since I first visited WHT for 10 mins this morning - life is great and the sun is shining. :)

Thanks for clearing that nexdog, that is the truly professionaly thing, i appreciate it!

To the other guy: I would not post something like that no way. The only reason i did this, was because yes it was extreme, and yes hes no longer a customer :)

Carboran
11-27-2002, 11:00 PM
No hard feelings here, either sbyhost. I am not trying to flame you either. I think that you should have not done it, but I don't think you are a bad person or a no-lifer

P.S. By the way, girls, I am sorry if some of you don't get the "right hand joke". It is a man's (or should I say teenagers' thing) ;) :D

Pretty funny!
It's okay to be 25, I once was 25 myself.

Posting it here.../shrug, we could all have a good laugh.
Posting it on your own message board, may be a bad idea. Even if you don't think it's unprofessional, think about how many people here felt it was uprofessional. Then, extend that percentage to potential customers visiting your site. That's a fair amount of bad PR for your company.

Just my 2 bytes, your mileage may very.

The hosting relocation police are going to get you!

It was REALLY Unprofessional and CHILDISH to put this on your own support Forum!!. It is CLEAR that the customer in question is not Fluent in English and might have misunderstood you. Personally, I would never ever sign up with a Company who makes Fun of his own Clients!!!! (Past or Present) Regardless of they are wrong or right. I just visited your Page http://www.sbyweb.net/index2.htm and was intrigue to find your Logo Heading "the only online company with you first in mind" First in Making FUN, Eh.

I would have to agree with scorpian on that one .. regardless of the fact that it's his/her/its 1st post ....

The fact that the guys & girls on WHT think that you are cool because your sarcasm is the best ... does not translate to improved customer relations nor to increased sales ...

Reptilian Feline

If you put something like that on your own pages, do it in the form of a FAQ so people can learn from it. DON'T make fun of your own customers.

Anyone notice that both of the seller and buyer in that conversation are incapable of using proper english?

XN CEO
11-29-2002, 11:50 AM
 sure i dont use proper english. in a few cases i didn't, but if you want to get technical, then when you say both of the seller and buyer Proper english would have been

" both the seller and buyer "

phpa

Skipping over the all too common misunderstandings over "its" vs. "it's" and "there" vs. "their", you realise presumably that you can't get away with a "no refunds" policy, at least for someone paying with a credit card such as visa.

Card companies have the ultimate control over their customers money, and not you as vendor. If a card company think that there's anything in a complaint from one of their customers then they'll simply issue a chargeback and leave you to try and get the money back. In this case, though, they may have trouble understanding what on earth the guy was ranting about and so I doubt there'd be any chargeback to worry about.

On the buyer/seller thing, "both the buyer and seller" would be even better than "both the seller and buyer" as it scans better.

XN CEO
11-29-2002, 12:07 PM
I agree with you, in the end it will be me fighting with the card company, but oh well.

Good one about the english thing.

phpa
11-29-2002, 12:53 PM
I agree with you, in the end it will be me fighting with the card company, but oh well.

Well hopefully you don't lose out.

Thinking about it, there's maybe nothing wrong with stating a norefunds policy, even though that doesn't stop refunds if a buyer complains. You must have a policy of some kind, and a no refunds policy may be reasonable. In my license agreement I originally put that there was no warranty, even though I'd always fix any bugs as I don't accept defects in my products, but my lawyers changed that to give a 30 day warranty, I think because no warranty is unenforceable. So the preferred defect resolution for both parties is to attempt to fix any bug rather than issue a refund. Other than that, if people buy a product in error and don't license it then that's fine, we could issue a refund if really necessary, but once licensed that really means no refund.

XN CEO
11-29-2002, 01:13 PM
i certainly get what your saying, and sure i do give refunds, but to customers who at least attempt to contact support. This guy was with us no more than 12 hours, and then emails me, not support. But oh well, you just shake it off, and move on i suppose.
