Let me know if you hear any thing. noni Incognito 11-30-2002, 10:48 PM Are you looking at the program which requires you to pay to be a "franchisee?" If so, my answers below apply. First, I frown heavily on any program which charges you heavily to become an agent or reseller for them. Second, a "franchise" only carries value if it allows you to provide a service you otherwise couldn't or it has a name which brings value to your business. This, at initial observation, appears to do neither. You can find from dozens of people better reseller programs and you can hook up with many designers to contract out design work. Maybe receipt of all their information would show some value I am missing, but I believe there are many here who would mentor you into a business such as they are providing but without the cost. I will now address each of their services individually: Web Design-you get 50% of price. Reasonable. However, is their pricing reasonable. I personally would rather work out deals with some designers here and sub-contract design work. Web Hosting-You are tied into specific plans it appears. Their pricing to you on these appears reasonable. But how is their service? Credit card merchant services. They expect you to charge a $395 setup fee of which you get $200. In my opinion, this level setup fee is much too high. I just don't personally see anything that would get me to run out and invest $2500 - $5000. bitwise 02-14-2003, 03:53 PM I was with AIS Private Label for about a year and I can tell you from experience - it stunk! I can hardly go into detail the multitudes of reasons, but here are a few: 1) Too much money. I paid $1500 for a "franchise" and it wasn't much more than a boilerplate site with a HORRIBLE order form. VERY unuserfriendly! 2) Only had email support and it wasn't very good support, either. 3) VERY little was automated. Nearly every aspect had to be done with your own spreadsheets and tracking methodology, including billing your customers. They were also very unhelpful when I tried to add ModernBill to the server, which never did come to fruition. 4) They billed me too much on several different occasions. 5) The whole order system, allowing customers to choose site templates, the design services and most importantly the online help files - all of it was very unuserfriendly and uninviting to a newby looking for hosting services. Well, that was my experience. If you want to do a TON of work and spend a fortune doing it, go for it! There are much better opportunities out there, believe me! Good luck in your final decisions. |
