View Full Version : Work this one out!!!
Aussie Bob 11-27-2002, 05:11 AM Work this out as you read. Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out! This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun. :D
I'd like scientific explantions as to why this works too. :nuts
(1). First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have dinner out. (try for more than once but less than 10)
(2). Multiply this number by 2 (Just to be bold)
(3). Add 5. (for Sunday)
(4). Multiply it by 50 - I'll wait while you get the calculator................
(5). If you have already had your birthday this year add 1752.... If you haven't, add 1751....
(6). Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.
You should have a three digit number. The first digit of this was your original number
(I.e., how many times you want to have eat out each
week).
The next two numbers are.........

YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it IS!!!!!)
Jim_UK 11-27-2002, 05:16 AM LOL :D
Very good!
skelley1 11-27-2002, 05:27 AM Assuming you've already had your birthday:
(2X + 5) *50 +1752-YEAR = threedigitnumber[X$+age$]
100X + 250 +1752 - YEAR = ...
100X + 2002 - YEAR = ...
100X + [definition of age = this year minus year born] = ...
(Three digit number, first digit definition = digit X 100)
That will give you all three digits, the first being the number of times going out, and the next two (providing you are older than 9) being your age.
stephenM 11-27-2002, 05:27 AM LOL! That's very clever :D
JustinH 11-27-2002, 05:34 AM If you have already had your birthday this year add 1752.... If you haven't, add 1751....
To really get your mind working, if you want the above equation to work next year, you'll have to change the numbers to 1753 and 1752 :).
I'll let some others play with this and give the "scientific explanation" if no one else can get it. But what I said above is a rather large hint :).
JustinH 11-27-2002, 05:37 AM jesus skelley I didn't think it'd be that fast :p

lol...timed myself at 94 seconds from when I saw the post ...:D
JustinH 11-27-2002, 05:53 AM That's what I get for going and getting a Pepsi before I post :D. I've seen hundreds of these types of "reading your mind" things, but they all have one thing in common: they make you do the math by step:
(1) Add 5
(2) Divide by 20
But when you actually do the math out in one whole step, like in this case: (2X+5) * 50, will always be 100x + 250 (e.g. 2 x 50 = 100; 5 x 50 = 250).
It's all rather simple when you break it down :)
skelley1 11-27-2002, 06:01 AM I love mind games. Except the ones women play :angry:
One of my hobbies is taking IQ tests. Great way to challenge your mind. I call it mental masturbation. ;)
JustinH 11-27-2002, 06:12 AM I'm more of a math guy then a mind game person. But you can trie these... quite fun :).
3 = F in a Y (3 = Feet in a Yard)
26 = L of the A
7 = D of the W
1001 = AN
12 = S of the Z
54 = C in a D (with J)
9 = P in the SS
88 = PK
13 = S on the A F
32 = D F at which W F
18 = H on a G C
90 = D in a R A
200 = D for P G in M -any1 that gets this in >45 minutes cheated
8 = S on a SS
That's just some of the ones I got from my aunt. But honestly they are all over the internet now so I wouldn't be surprised if most of the people that respond to this are actually cheating.
Sorry Bob for taking over your post :D.
26 = Letters of the Alphabet
32 = Dgrees Ferhinhieght at which Water Freezes.
OK so I can't spell ferinhieght, do I get a half point?
The Dude 11-27-2002, 01:02 PM i've seen this be4,pretty clever to say the least....
The Dude :)
Darth 11-27-2002, 01:15 PM I could of swore The Dude was banned :D
JustinH 11-27-2002, 02:47 PM Those are the types of things that bug the crap out of me :). Fun when you get them though
skelley1 11-27-2002, 02:55 PM I like number series questions too:
1,1,2,_,5,8,13
6,7,9,8,6,8,_
3,3,5,4,4,3,5,5,4,_
7,5,5,4,7,6,7,_ <--that one took me a week!
