View Full Version : DotNetPanel VS Plesk
iserv 01-22-2010, 10:35 AM Hello,
What one would you say is better:
DotNetPanel
or
Plesk
For windows only (Just incase any one is unsure cause Plesk does run Linux too.)
inspiron 01-22-2010, 12:02 PM For windows you can use plesk but I think DotNetPanel has more features than plesk.
Softsys Hosting 01-22-2010, 12:12 PM DotNetPanel all the way. It is a great product with quite frequent updates supporting latest technologies and is extremely light in resource consumption.
EduardoM 01-22-2010, 01:20 PM Hello,
Will DotNetPanel import data from a Plesk backup?
Thanks!
HF-Paul 01-22-2010, 03:12 PM Another recommendation for DNP
Hello,
Will DotNetPanel import data from a Plesk backup?
Thanks!
No, but you can install it on a server that was managed by Plesk and import the resources.
EduardoM 01-22-2010, 03:22 PM And after that I would be able to migrate DotNetPanel data to a new server or this would require any add-on?

It's better to wipe your server and then start over again.
For my game servers I did a backup for tcadmin and then had to go through changing loads of settings for it to work 100% and then it still had bug's because of the move.
iserv 01-22-2010, 05:18 PM Thanks for all the replys :) very helpful.
I've got windows servers for game servers and linux for hosting but now I need windows for one of my ASP sites.
So that's why I was needing to know whats better - I know Plesk isn't very fast at operating.
macaws 01-24-2010, 02:06 PM Hmm. I like Plesk, the vista theme is old, but anyways, Plesk is good, but way overpriced. DotNetPanel is the best current Windows panel. Emkempass will be the BEST when cPanel releases it. (I would wait for them :P) But if this is something you need to do fast, just get DNP.
Connor- 01-24-2010, 02:18 PM i like Plesk tbh the theme is nice too. But cPanel's windows release looks good too!

Hey, thanks for the reply.
Well hopefully cPanel windows version would be good and goodly priced too :)
I'll see if I can find info on there site and maybe some screenies :P
Thanks again :)
mesas 01-25-2010, 07:21 AM I don't have much experience with Plesk and my main expertise is in cPanel and Linux, but I'd suggest you take DotNetPanel.
It is more user friendly and it will make your task of hosting multiple domains and accounts easier.
While DNP has more features, there are a lot of bugs.
Often, DNP doesn't remove the site from IIS or mail server and we have to go in and do it manually.
stpwebhosting 01-25-2010, 08:00 AM DotNetPanel is an excellent product. I would prefer to use it. Below are some differences between these two products:
Speed:
Plesk ~> Bit slow speed.
DotNetPanel ~> Ever fastest Windows Hosting Solution Panel.
User Friendly:
Plesk ~> The options are bit confusing. Most of the options are un-usable.
DotNetPanel ~> Simplicity with trust and great features "mostly needed!"
Resource Usage:
Plesk ~> It may eat your server resources like RAM, CPU, HDD Buffers.
DotNetPanel ~> Small usage of RAM like 256mb. CPU usage is depending on user.
Administration:
Plesk ~> It will be reset to the default configuration if anything will happen.
DotNetPanel ~> Fully customizable, easy to repair in any case.
keserhosting 01-26-2010, 09:35 AM I fully agree that DotNetPanel will be good choice for windows servers than Plesk.
iserv 01-26-2010, 11:29 PM Well as "macaws" said in above post, cPanel is bringing out a windows version of cPanel.
I looked at it and used the demo and it looks pretty good has some more things in it too.
So it either DNP or Emkempass I think i'm gonna go with!
