Well I currently use LiveZilla and it works great for our needs. Never heard of Zopim, looks really cool. Might do a demo and give you my thoughts.

I've seen a few companies use Zopim. It looks really nice.

I have experience only with LiveZilla and have been most pleased with it......Very easy to set up, use and manage...the only problem I have with it is the fact there is only 1 admin account allowed, which is not a big deal really, just a minor flaw in my opinion.....

LiveZilla is what we use and we have nothing bad to say about it. :-)

I think its always better to host the support system instead of using 3rd party services .
so my vote goes to Livezilla

I would choose LiveZilla over Zopim because of the features however i'm not saying Zopim sucks as it's really good aswell but i really like the IM client feature on Zopim

LiveZilla, all it needs is some sort of push computable iPhone app and then It'd be perfect!

Zopim for me, if only because you can use it easily on your phone. Having said that, they have had some issues recently which gives way to the case of hosting your own Live Chat can be better.

My only grip with livezilla is the lack of compliance with Mac OS X, Linux, and portable devices.

I've been highly tempted to code up a web-based AJAX interface and make it available open-source, but I haven't been tempted enough to do so at this point.

Either way -- We use a crossbreed between an in-house solution and Livezilla. I couldn't ask for more, to be quite honest. It's fast, reliable, and offers more data about the client than Kayako Support Suite. That's why we dropped Kayako chat and went with Livezilla.

We've always used and recommended LiveZilla, never heard of Zopim before this post though, so we're going to go look into it now. Might be a good solution for our new site launch soon.

You mean on the staff/admin side (which is .NET based I believe)? On the client/web side we've had no issues with Mac users, but some minor changes had to be made for Strict XHTML compliance.

I would love to try livezilla (currently use providesupport), but they have no plans to support mac or linux and they keep claiming to be working on a web interface, but after a recent email, it's on the back, back burner and they said even when they do, you'll need windows to install. Makes no sense. Almost every live chat program has a web interface first and then a desktop client. Not the other way around.

Such already exists - it's called CraftySantax :stickout:

Tis a shame more people don't use that - it's great :)

To the OP: Neither :D

I just tested zopim and its really nice!

However, I cant get the IM feature to work (MSN).

When I get out of dashboard, quit page or logout, when I go to the page, it shows as offline.

Zopim looks nice but it is a paid script. The free version supports only 2 concurrent chats. It also need Flash player installed on users computer. Some users reported that zopim crashed their browser IE when they opened our site. On October we reported a bug and still it not fixed.

Sometimes the visitor may not receive our chats so that the visitor think that we are Online and don't respond to their questions.

We were using zopim but removed it because of this.

Livezilla is a great product as it is a free software comparable to kayako and such paid software. It gives you every features that you want. But I noticed that it cause load on server. CSF reports every minute "Excessive Resource Usage".

My vote goes for livezilla

I don't quite understand Zopim, why is the Team version $39/mo and the Business version is $99 when the Business version only has 2x more operators and 3 more IM chats. Normally companies give discounts on the higher end plans, but they cranked up the price to levels that makes no sense? Maybe I'm missing something and there is a hidden feature I would love to know about. I have been looking into Zopim since it came out of Beta, but am not sure on it's reliability yet since it's a new product.

I don't see any special features in this product. Plus, it has no operator client software. Seems like it has only web interface which is not something the users want. As you know, it is hard to keep a browser window open 24hrs

Hasn't been an issue here.

Clients will only ever see a web interface - and from the operator standpoint I've have a dozen sessions on a single operator going at once without any kind of issue ;)

I've even got Atom 230 desktop clients - LiveZilla runs extremely slow on that kind of hardware (barely functions due to all the feature-bloat of the client), but a browser-based operator panel does well on low-end pc's.

As you know, it is hard to keep a browser window open 24hrs

Perhaps for you.

I've had this copy of FireFox running for about 6 weeks with a CraftySantax and several other constantly refreshing tabs open - unless your internet is crap it shouldn't be a problem.

And on that point, not all companies are on live chat 24/7/365 anyway so that's a non-issue (indeed I suspect most are not).

I will admit though I've customized my copy of CS a bit to make it nicer.

======

For a mature free solution it's basically either LiveZilla with it's bloated desktop Windows-only client or CraftySantax with it's web based-only client. If anyone knows of any FLOSS software that can do both I'm sure we'd all be interested.

We use LiveZilla now and honestly it's probably the best live chat helpdesk we've used. Not only because it's free but the functionality is great too. We actually switched to LiveZilla FROM Kayako LiveResponse.

I find crafty syntax to be functional, but horribly ugly to look at. I couldn't imagine working in it all day.

Good Evening,

Our company has and will for the most part always use Livezilla, Only because it has more features that allows us more options for when a customer comes into our chat. The main thing is that it is free, Zopim has limitations, because to get what even a mediocre hosting company needs on the lines of support, The company would have to shell out at least over 30.00 a month. Some companies just don't have that option. Looking at this in an unbiased sense, both have some features that I would like to have. For example, Overall Livezilla is great, But If your offline, that could be a problem. If you use a bot on Zopim, you could, theoretically, forward them to someone who is available, or to a different means of support. Alternatively, a bot may even be used as a sort of knowledge base. As a company owner who has used Livezilla, I would say I like Livezilla because of its customer friendly interface and customization ability to fluidly integrate into your site.

Best Regards,
