Hi all,
My brain is just about fried from evaluating ecommerce products, so I'm looking for help. Rather than just asking the generic, "What's the best ecommerce package" I'd like to outline some of the more unique aspects I would like to have. Ideally those would be available "off the shelf", but I know sometimes that's just not possible.
My business is divided between wholesale and retail, but those two sides are not conducted under the same brand name. As a simplified example I wholesale products from Brands A, B, and C under the identity of Wholesaler X. Then I am also responsible for providing individual retail outlets for each of Brand A, B, and C. I'd like to find a "store" that can handle that with one back end, to simplify inventory management, product updates, and infrastructure. Ideally I'd also like to be able to transmit orders from any storefront to the appropriate fulfillment warehouse, generally as per destination.
My products are unique as well as they are not typically generic. For example, I'm not selling T-Shirts which will generally fit on any human being as long as the size is right. My products are specifically made for certain motor vehicles. As you can imagine, something made for a Ford Escort will probably not work on a Honda Accord, etc. I would like to allow visitors (to any store) the ability to "lookup" items appropriate for their vehicle. I've wondered about simply adding vehicle details as "attributes" in my product catalog and then presenting the attribute lookup as drop down menus - but would it be that simple?
Thanks for any insight you can provide.
Best Regards,
Chris
