Can you think of how I could word a formal definition of web hosting?
I'm trying to think of a good way to word it
Some things people have come up with:
Definition: The service of providing space and bandwidth for the storage of HTML,
graphics and other applications that run via a webserver.
"Storing and serving files to be viewed through a web browser"
What would you say?

very technically correct, but maybe its a bit wordy in techno-speak for someone who is actually looking for a definition of hosting. Since it's for engineers though, it may not be technical enough..lol
who is the target audience for this definition?

Web Hosting - The process of a user, for example: Fred, who goes out looking for a 'cheap' host, finds one, throws a party and enjoys a few days discovering what web hosting is all about. Then...
PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED
Fred deals with it for a year, until finding out he chose a bad 'cheap' host and decides to find another. He seems to know how to avoid a bad host, but goes with another cheap host anyway. Same thing happens, and he doesnt even give them a week. He slams the door and finds a real hosting company.. slamming the door to 'cheap' and figuring the odds just may be in his favor. He goes to WebHostingTalk and investigates and settles down with a nice cozy web hosting plan. He always knows that if things go wrong... he can flame 'em at WHT. ;) :D
(OK, so maybe a bit off track from definition)
