I was told by my father to research different payment solutions for a website. I just bought another dedicated server, and Modernbill (full version paid monthly) and the modernbill setup. i need to wait for the dns to propagate on the server and for the account to be setup with unitedcolo so that I can set up the SSL certificate.

What else is necessary to be able to receive credit card payments? Do you need to buy something like 2checkout or paysystems? or is that included with modernbill. Also, what's the point of getting the SSL certificate?

Please help me out here.

Regards,
Mike

also I bought a cpanel license. is there anyway for these different elements to combine so that I can provide customers with an instant setup via cpanel (generated username/pw emailed to email given in order form)

what you need is called a online merchant. 2checkout and paysystems are online merchant providers. To make things easier on yourself you might want to get one that interfaces with moderbill already (check moderbills website, i am sure they have a list). The point of the SSL certificate is to encrypt the data from the users browser to your server. So that way when they are filling out signup form and entering thier credit card number they get to feel all warm and fuzzy knowing that some ***** with a packet sniffer on thier isp's network isnt going to get thier card number.

I dont know if modernbill integrates with 2checkout.com yet..

And all instant activation is not the best of ideas.

kind regards
