While I wish they'd be more up front about when they'll get the RaQs in I think the answer is that they really don't know. I get the impression that they have orders in with Sun (or whoever they order from) and the supplier is having delays in getting them out. FWIW I got mine about 7 or 8 days after ordering.

In a way im glad they dont have any new raqs. Although i feel sorry for the people waiting. They should now be concentrating on getting there network back the way it was. For me it's got faster but for a lot of people in the Texas and new york areas of the US it has become slow as hell.

I suggest to all of you that want to get new RaQ's from 4WebSpace that you wait a. The reason for this is that currently their uptime is very bad! They are not as good as they were when I signed up in the begining of this year.

If the problem only occurs from certain place why would you think it's a 4webspace problem? I'm sure you know the basics of how the internet works. If there's a problem with one backbone provider how can you blame that on 4ws or tera?

I've often experienced problems getting to my site and a traceroute points out that the problem is with AlterNet. I can dial up another number at my home ISP and get through just fine since they use a different upstream provider on that number.

Now the AlterNet problems have been ongoing and I could see possibly saying that tera shouldn't use AlterNet any more. That may be a sensible comment. But to say that tera is having problems with their network because people from New York and Texas find it slow while you yourself find it faster just doesn't make any sense to me.

guess im having one of them days. But if alter.net is one of there backbone providers and they arent really 100% reliable then it is tera-byte's job to find a new provider or get on the case of alter.net if it's ruining there good reputation. tera-byte will be paying good money to have them as a provider and if they arent living upto what they say they can do then they shouldnt use them.

Why wait when you can have our 4webspace RAQ3 if you want it? Loaded with 128MB RAM, MySQL, Perl Modules, and PHP4.

Tera-Byte does not peer with ALTER.NET. However, it is the provider of choice for many ISPs both in the US and around the world. That means if you use one of those ISPs, you're stuck going over ALTER.NET's network either way, and that's out of our control.

That's... interesting. That's not the IP of the system I was posting from. It's the IP for another system on the network that I have posted from before, but not the one I'm posting from now. It's not a proxy server or anything either. A bug, perhaps?

The IP thing is a known problem (and we're looking into it)........

onlyreal this is just to pass on some info. As far as I understand it, if you don't place an order, then at the moment, you won't get a machine. They are filling orders as servers come in. At least this is what I think is the deal. In other words, don't wait until they get more in, because they won't for a bit, but if you order one, you'll get one as soon as your number is up, so to speak. Confirm this with them of course.

That's the problem! I myself am on a 2mbit in Sweden and it did not work for me. My friend in Toronto has a 4webspace box too, his went down as well. I asked another friend on dialup from California to check it and it was the same for her. Same thing for another friend on a 10mbit here in Sweden.

All I'm saying is this is happening way to often. And when it does all other sites seem to be working fine, it's just the 4webspace machines that can't be accessed!

I'm not saying that the Tera network never goes down. It did for a while yesterday. A traceroute will usually help pinpoint who's to blame. However most of the time I see complaints that Tera or 4ws is down I can access my own server there. When I can't access my own server there, most of the time a traceroute shows the problem to be AlterNet and not Tera.

You're right that I've been unable to get to 4ws via AlterNet at times when I've been able to get to other sites. It's likely that those other sites are not close to Tera as far as the backbone network goes. You'd have to traceroute several when it happens. I have certainly seen some problems with other sites when I'm unable to access Tera via AlterNet.

I have used Tera-byte for months now and have never experienced an outage that has lasted for more then an hour. Unless it went unknown and I doubt that...

As far as waiting for the Raq3 I wish now I would have gotten the Raq4 just for the extras.

My experience with them has been great and for the price you can't go wrong.

I've had a raq3 at webspace for a couple of months. I leave a telnet connection on all the time, so I usually know when the network connection to my server goes down.

My server has gone down for more than 10 times over the last 2 months, and that's just those I detected when I'm telneting to my server. Actual number of downs is probably 4-5 times higher. Traceroutes from various locations in the world usually shows the problem at tera-byte. However, the connection always goes up again in 5-15mins without fail.

Although I'm not too happy with this frequent number network downs, I'm not complaining as I think it's still a very good deal at that kind of price!

Has your server gone down, or did the connection to your server go down?

I think he means he has not been able to access his server because of the connection problems like the rest of us.
