Hey,

I was looking into 2CheckOut, but there rates are very high. I was wondering if there are any alternatives out there instead of Paypal ProPay.

Plimus seems to be even more expensive than 2CO.

Hi

Are you looking to accept Credit Cards direct ? Paypal PRO are going to be the most competative, they also dont charge you for refunds.

If you go down the route of a merchant account then the above is something to consider.

Is worldpay available to you ?

Thanks

I don't think there is much difference between PayPal Pro and a merchant account, anything that a merchant account can do can be done by PayPal Pro as well. So I would recommend using PayPal Pro as well.

Is there anything besides Plimus and PayPal Pro?

I am primarily looking for something that:
Can send and receive funds from Paypal
Doesn't have any monthly fee's
And preferably no start up fees.

I like Primus though, but the WHMCS module out there doesn't seem to work very well.

Well to get best rates you need to have reasonable transaction volume and only then a merchant account can save you money.

Thanks

Alternatively you can check worldpay, IMO.

No Gateway would have no set up fees or monthly fees. If they didn't, they wouldn't make money.

I agree. PayPal Pro seems to be the best option though..

check alertpay

Does anyone know if either of these support recurring transactions through WHMCS?

The fees of 2checkout aren't what bother me, it's the fact we can't use subscriptions in WHMCS with them (or that's what I've been reading).

2CheckOut has high rates but they are well worth it. They have a great fraud protection feature and with them you probably won't see many charge backs. However another great alternative is Google Checkout. Their support is horrible but the rates are almost identical to PayPal.

2CO holds your payments for months, dependent on checkups, sometimes. I had a payment on hold for 5 months because they couldn't contact a client who had not answered his phone, therefore delaying my $xxxx. From that experience, we quit using them and went to PayPal Pro.

They only do that too newer merchants. After a month or so they stop holding the payment.

I was a merchant with them for several years.

The 2CO was our primary processor for about 8 years, they gave us better rate. One day they just SHUT DOWN our account permanently saying it will never be opened. The reason they mentioned after numerous calls is that we had a customer from a country that is on the list of OFAC- countries (US does not do business with those countries). Though they gave us all of money that was there in our account.

Moneybookers is good when you customers have a moneybookers account. If they do not, moneybookers sends then a text message for phone verification. Some receive and some do not. Whereas most of the customers find it cumbersome.

AlertPay, after Paypal, is the one that can be relied upon. They do verify a transactions thoroughly.

Europrean companies can go for ChronoPay

Hi Mansoor:

Thanks for your info:

We were just considering to sign up with Moneybookers, and I had asked them exactly this question in email (that is, if they require some sort of 'membership' of customers that would use them to pay us) -- but they avoided answering that question. And they took 4 days to reply anyway.

We have both, U.S. and Germany based businesses. We have a German merchant account as well, and we can use direct debit and "GiroPay" (relatively new Germen payment method, similar to direct debit, but with more verifications (no chargebacks). Our problem is that we can't use GiroPay (for our German customers) with WHMCS (http://www.whmcs.com/) shopping card. And also, Moneybookers offers really a lot of other "local" payment solutions for other European countries as well.

Do you or does anyone else here know if (a) there is any sort of option within Moneybookers that would allow prospective customers just to make a payment without that sort of 'membership' on their end? Or, (b) if there is a good alternative? A few years ago we looked into WorldPay (also mentioned in this thread), but there were other problems with them ... one could only use 'local' paymeht solutions with them if the business was registered in the same location, etc. Does WorldPay also require any sort of membership from paying customers?

Thanks.

John

If you are running a web hosting company don't use 2co. If some one give a fake call to 2co they will suspend your account. I have soo many bad experiance. I'm recommending to use authorize.net for hosting business. Paypal also not bad.

Authorize.net is probably the best gateway out there. It's integrated with almost every shopping cart and has a great virtual terminal.

e-onlinedata resells the Authorize.net gateway along with their merchant accounts for rates lower than you can get on the Authorize.net site. It's probably a special offer but a good deal non the less.
