Selling advertising space that looks like an actual article at first glance:

cnn has been discgraceful for quite a long time, followed closely by FOX, ABC, CBS, MSN, and almost every other mainstream news provider.

Umm MSN is Microsift Owned just to point out, and like all companies, whether they are news companies or not they do need to make a profit so they can keep running and be a business.

Not trying to defend Micro$oft, but how is that considered an advertising space?

I'm puzzled, because when you click on the links, it brings you do an actual article with Microsoft advertisements. Is this it?

I have no problem with MS, it's with CNN and making a spot look like a legitimate story.

No? Last time I checked CNN was owned by AOL/Timewarner who is owned by our buddy Ted Turner.

didn't ted turned sell his share of cnn (and not most of his empire) to AOL/timewarner awhile ago?

last time i heard, he's kept a spot on as some adviser, although, last story on that was he really has no power left in the decision making.

also, i believe netscape is owned by AOL/time warner(?)

Not really on topic but, Ted Turner owned CNN he sold it to Time Warner who was then bought or merged with AOL which does own Netscape.
And Ted has now been voted off the board directors by AOL so there is a big behind the scenes share holder fight going on for control now that AOL/Timewarner has lost billions since the merger.

Ted may control it all again someday.

CNN like all other businesses have to generate revenue. Because their revenue base is advertising and the ad market is in the tank, they have to come up with ads that work.

If you don't like it, stop visiting CNN. If noone goes there, they will change their practices.

All businesses have responsibility to their owners/shareholders and that is to make money. That is what makes the US economy work.

Go CNN!
