Is there any way that I can get reseller hosting and only be charged when I get an order, instead of monthly? I'm thinking about starting a web host, but I don't expect many customers in the first few months.

I don't think that's possible. You mean you will not having even 2 or 3 customers a month? That's all that is normally needed to cover the reseller plan fee.

I think you'd be better off with an 'Affiliate' scheme.

Sounds like what godaddy or resellerclub does. If I understand their system properly, you sell their premade packages and once you sell, you pay for the item yourself with a little bit left over for you. But I think you can set your own pricing.

However it's not the best way to go imo. With a regular reseller you'll be able to set your own packages, make custom packages, etc. They are more "attractive" to people.

You may not get many clients, but getting a small reseller is an investment and if you work hard enough, it'll pay off.

I think this is possible, but not under the traditional reseller hosting model, where you purchase a large amount of space from a hosting company in order to divide it up for your customers.

What you might want to consider doing is finding a shared hosting provider that will allow you to resell their packages. Then, when you're ready to take your business to the next level, you can consolidate all of your clients onto a reseller account, vps or even a dedicated server.

It doesn't cost a lot these days to get a reseller account. You can find a very affordable one then as business grows you can easily upgrade to a better provider offering more quality.

I honestly think successes comes with sacrifices and risks, sometimes you just need to step further to reach your dream.

Good luck with it!

It seems you won't have much options if you plan like what you described. My suggestion also is to find an affordable reseller host. There may be good budget hosts in the industry. Best of luck.

Look at Resellerclub offer. But I recommend what you purchase a small/cheap reseller hosting from a reliable provider. So you can create your hosting packages and their prices as you wish and can make more money by spending lower.

I suggest you make kind of a simple business plan about which goals you want to achieve in a specific time and which steps seem necessary and appropriate. This will give you a clearer picture of what you need. For now it seems you have no proper direction and that's certainly not the best way to start. Good luck!

I have used and use resellerclub (mainly for domains).

I think this is something which traditional hosts should offer.

Companies could ask for a deposit (usually a hundred or more) and allow for clients to resell all their products with the client branding. It will help small business start-up to offer wide varity of products while at the same time not having to go through the hassles of setting them all up individually or having to pay a committed amount.

But of-course you would not having the flexibility of having the ability to make your own custom plans.

I believe that there are some companies that do this, but I'm not familiar with them. I think most would fall along the lines of an affiliate program, which really wouldn't give you the chance to have your own company. I'd just suggest starting out with a smaller-sized reseller package from a company which you could then upgrade as needed.

Unfortunately paying the monthly payment is all a part of the investment into a web host

the way it works with resellerclub is that you maintain an advance account with them. As and when you sell any of their products and services only then funds get deducted from your advance account as per your cost price. I quite like it and suits me. It all depends on what you need and your preferences
