What would be the best way for me to promote a computing forum. The forum is located at http://www.pcinfobyte.com/forums/, and I would like to know what I should be doing to promote this forum.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The easiest way to promote it is adding a link to your email signature. It's also free. You could also try placing banner ads on various sites related to your forum, but whatever you do, please don't spam.

1. Use the Super Size hosting way: Spam, spam, and spam :P

2. Create something good- unique- and have it in your sig, or mention it when it is appropriate and if it is good, people will follow.

Submit your site to search engines :D

Well you got a click out of me, but since I have to register before I can even see what I am regestering for, I'm not coming back.

That is a sure fire way not to get members, people like to lurk a bit before they decide to join forums, to see the quality, quantity and to see if the there is any general interest or benefit in it for them.

To start off, try getting the word around to friends, family, people you know... If you're more serious and have some cash to spare, try advertising on computer related sites.


... I have to register before I can actually view the forum!?? I would never join a forum before actually going through some threads, reviewing user's posts, and getting a feel and sense of the community. I wouldn't want to be a part of a community unworthy of my presence. :D

The only reason i would join a forum that makes people register before the can view is if that forum has someone i REALLY need, for example support for a large product, ect
