View Full Version : Cheapest uk ssl ev?
thetiger 01-10-2010, 01:19 PM Hi,
I'm looking to buy a ssl ev certificate but was wondering if anyone knew where I could find the cheapest one? I've looked at comodo but that was £250, and GoDaddy do one for $100 but us only :(
Thanks
HOD-Jardin 01-10-2010, 01:20 PM I can get it for £20 :)
Vinayak_Sharma 01-10-2010, 01:48 PM Not sure what you mean by "UK SSL".
But, have a look at

He means he needs SSL EV, in the UK!
Read thread title...
HOD-Jardin 01-10-2010, 01:57 PM Maybe he meant, based in the UK?
@thetiger
If you buy SSL Certs and have a server in the UK. You can host them yourself.
thetiger 01-10-2010, 02:51 PM Sorry if I wasn't clear, I meant I was looking to purchase an ev certificate for my site which is based in the uk.
I know I can find standard ssl certs cheap, but was trying to see if there are any for .co.uk priced reasonably (£100 or under).
Thanks
HOD-Jardin 01-10-2010, 02:53 PM Ah right, yeah the Green coloured one.
Why do you need SSL EV... what's it for?

I think in that case and if you can meet the requirements, startssl suits you.
USD 149.90 that is GBP 93.5113 as per today's exchange rate.
Read their requirements for SSL EV at https://www.startssl.com/?app=30

Online store :)
webcertain 01-11-2010, 08:03 AM trustico.com are very fast and not expensive for SSL certs.
globalshawn 01-11-2010, 10:00 AM There is still a GeoTrust Promotion going on through the large aggregaters liek Secure128 and OpenSRS I believe.
https://www.secure128.com/TrueBusinessEV.aspx
Reg 123 has a great deal on the GlobalSign one...

Thats a beefy certificate right there.
appvzcom 01-12-2010, 08:03 AM namecheap is selling $179/year for Business EV.
unity100 01-12-2010, 11:34 AM just grab a rapidssl for $20 buckish a year from somewhere. what difference does it make.
alex-developer 01-12-2010, 02:00 PM namecheap is selling $179/year for Business EV.
this is the best price which I have seen.

the difference is company name verified and green URL address bar.
Guys, I am not saying that you should not got an EV certificate but just sit back and think how many people or users actually know what green bar really means? Really, so in such a case what's the use of having it?

I can say that green URL address bar is more noticed in any browser compare to normal SSL bar.
EuropeSSL 01-13-2010, 03:37 PM Extended Validation SSL is unique as it represents uniform set of issuing procedures established by the Certificate Authority Browser Forum. In short, EV SSL fully verifies the website owner (rather than just encryption) and displays the Organization name at the browser level in the green URL bar.
These guys are the best deal as they will negotiate lower pricing with you:
Secure128 dot com

I will second them as we are about to just order a GeoTrust Wildcard cert from them.
netearth 01-17-2010, 07:47 PM hmmm, secure128 dot com hide behind whois privacy:
Private, Registration SECURE128 dot COM }at{ domainsbyproxy dot com
Domains by Proxy, Inc.
DomainsByProxy.com
Doesn't bode well for a company selling "trust" type services
GeoTrust are doing EV until the end of the month on special from recollection.
