Maniac 11-25-2002, 03:41 PM Simple question, feel free to post comments. mind21_98 11-25-2002, 06:38 PM Yeah. I see a massive crash coming soon, leaving only the providers who have their own data centers and/or an actual physical presence. (just a guess) ForumsAddict 11-25-2002, 06:48 PM The crash aint coming till all the ppl living on this planet have their own website... ;) clocker1996 11-25-2002, 06:52 PM crash?? lmao ok bud Phrozen 11-25-2002, 06:52 PM Originally posted by ForumsAddict The crash aint coming till all the ppl living on this planet have their own website... ;) You mean they don't already? ;) ForumsAddict 11-25-2002, 06:53 PM u get my point :D mind21_98 11-25-2002, 07:04 PM Originally posted by ForumsAddict u get my point :D Hmm. So you still think there's lots of room in the industry? ForumsAddict 11-25-2002, 07:10 PM Yes, i sincerely do. There is a lot of market for sincere hosts. Internet boom may just have reached its top in USA but its just the start for most of the other countries. Its time for hosts to think global... Synthetic 11-25-2002, 07:14 PM I do feel as if the web hosting industry is overly congested. I am also comfortable in saying that most of the companies out there do not deserve to exist. ForumsAddict 11-25-2002, 07:17 PM I do feel as if the web hosting industry is fairly over congested. Yes being in US, you can say that but there is a lot of room on international front. Lesli 11-25-2002, 07:29 PM I think there's room for other hosting companies, especially by companies of any size who set realistic prices, treat their customers very well, have solid business ethics, and follow through. There will also be demand for local hosting companies for quite some time - for smaller businesses especially. interactive 11-25-2002, 07:46 PM The usa is just as congested as everywhere else. You got thousands of these kiddie hosts. Not that I have a problem with young people I am one. I think local hosting companies everywhere have potential. But I think everyone thinks this market is 10x bigger then it really is.... progex 11-25-2002, 08:02 PM IMO, I believe that in the near future, the hosting industry is going to be bursting with niche-based hosting. i.e., hosting for gaming clans, blog hosting, hosting for bulletin boards, etc. Maniac 11-27-2002, 01:30 AM Thanks guys. Acroplex 11-27-2002, 02:03 AM The next generation of personal web sites. Grandma Annabel down the street will have her own web site called "Viagra Connections" :D skelley1 11-27-2002, 02:16 AM If you start talking to people who don't hang out on the internet, you'll soon find people who want to be on the internet for some reason, and just don't know how to do it. There are LOTS of these people. I believe the generic "just sign up and go" hosting sites are very flooded. Service and support will determine how long you are in businesss, and I don't just mean by how quickly you answer support tickets or your downtime stats, etc. You need to bring solutions to people who don't have any idea what they need, not just be available for them at a cheap price. Hosting for non-English speakers has a whole lot of room to grow as well. ToastyX 11-27-2002, 07:12 AM The hosting market is definitely flooded, especially with kids getting a cheap server and slapping accounts on them through a control panel without having a clue what they're doing. Then when they accidentally kill Apache, the server's "down" for two days. |
