Hi.
I've only been on this board for a short time, but I have to ask.
What's up with all the webhosting templates?
Is it for people who are just resellers and can't develop thier own sites? Or is just that everyone else is too busy and don't want to do it themselves?
I've used templates for clients who wanted a presence, but didn't want to spend money on a custom design. But for my own site?
I don't think so.
Just curious.

Some templates are pretty decent - any sites can use them, not just resellers. Alot of time, people have too many ideas and want to get into the business and want a low-cost solution to see if their ideas are viable- which is where templates come into play. If the idea works, then they get a custom solution.

It seems the board is saturated with people trying to sell them. I mean, there are only so many new web hosts and people only change their designs so often.
I agree that I'd rather design my own site but many companies simply do not have time or want a more professional presence so they go the template or custom design route.
Templates I think are good for a quick solution and are cheap which makes them appealing to small companies and start ups alike ;)

One of the main reasons why I produce web hosting templates?
To improve the look of web hosting sites and to bring the industry a better reputation. Many of the hosting sites I see look like they were developed using Geocities SiteBuilder tool (no offense intended). ;)

I'm sure there are many people who are quite capable of running a phenomenal webhost, but couldn't design the page for it if their life depended on it.

I also did my website myself but if you look at it and compare it to some of the nicer looking websites there is a big difference in the whole feel being more graphically filled. With templates it gives you an east route to kind of get that graphical more inpressive feel without having to dish out tons of $$$. But then again some people get templates without knowing anything about html and it ends up looking worse than any non-graphical site out there..
so basically it's a cheap way to get a better site.. atleast for most of us..

:D
Everyone has their specialties. I am a pretty decent programmer, but I couldn't make a halfway-decent design if my life depended on it.

I'm a webhost, not a webdesigner.

Most templates being sold are relatively cheap, so it's a great bargain for many (especially new) companies. In addition, you could get your site up and running much quicker than if you were to design it yourself or have one custom made.

This is indeed a purely competitive economy ;) Firms enter when P>=AVC. Firms exit when P<AVC :D
