I'm interested. But what's your hosting company and where's it located on the net? I would have e-mailed you, but there isn't an e-mail address provided, nor can I e-mail you through your profile...

i am not posting because i am looking for work, but maybe to help others..

did you have specific times you wanted someone around?
any idea about the volume of tickets a day/week?
will you expect this person to be on call via phone if something is to break.. say apache dies

Everything seems reasonable except

If any one ticket takes more than 10 minutes then the ticket is raised to $1 USD

Isn't $6 an hour a bit low?

Just my 2 bytes.

Well, it is non-taxable, or more accurately, easy to not claim as taxable. Which puts it at really about 9-10 hour.

You should provide an email addy for people to email you. That way it would be more private.

I didn't say it wasn't low, but if you're 15, it's good money.

You get what you pay for...

So your targetting 15 year olds for your staff?

Do you think thats a good thing?

I know that if I was a customer of yours I wouldnt feel to good knowing my site is in the hands of a 15 year old if there are any problems, especially if I host a hufe eCommerce site with you and that 15 year old cant be reached for 7 hours a day because he/she is in school..

Did he say he was targeting 15 yr olds? Or was this just an assumption made by others in this thread?

Hello,

There is nothing wrong with being 15. I believe the normal 15 year old should be out enjoying life, chassing after girls and really concentrating at school. However, just because someone is 15 by age doesn't make them who they are. A person is who he/she is by what he/she does not by what he/she is or what her/she can do.

I'm 15 and i've never hidden the fact that I am 15. I'm proud of who I am and my attitude towards everything.

There is nothing wrong with being 15, I just wouldn't expect a high amount of knowledge or experience in doing freelance work from one.

But then again, if I ran a webhost and had servers, I wouldn't trust many people with the root passwords accept me.

Hello,

I've been "in the web hosting business" for around 3 years now and around 5 years on the computer. I'm not a normal 15 year old (if thats good or bad only time will tell).

This is actually quite a good gig if you are in places like India, Sri Lanka ,Philippines or similar places.

You can may be close 10 tickets an hour and get paid 5$ / hour which is roughly the equivalent of 35$/hour in US in terms of buying power and lifestyle equivalent. Besides export income is non-taxable in India so it is doubly good ;)

But may not be a good pay for someone in Western Europe or North America. It's unfair, but then life is like that!

I pay 30$ for 300 MB of prepaid ADSL bandwidth and it is so unfair too!

I am not looking for this gig as I own a hosting company and I am also working as a support tech for a large company who I am very happy with. :)

They have 100% faith in me, consult me on some important decisions, pay me on time and have given me root password for all their servers.

The most important thing for a remote tech and host to click is mutual integrity and trust; I have found it to be an unusual chemistry which is high synergy if it works!

I thought I will make this comment for the benefit of both parties.

I thought you had 150 servers or something?

That's pretty good for a 15yr old who has been in the business for 3 years. Well done. :)

Hello Aussiebob,

Ahh the thing you just quoted me on was well I was reading that Votech thread :o (opps).

No, I do not and have never owned 150 servers. I was just doing a sales/promotional kind of job for someone who turned out to be a scammer but I was just doing the promotion side to start off with. I almost forwarded the clients to him. Lucky I didn't otherwise they would have been scammed . Anyhow I explained that quite a few times.

I better idea that stupid comment (thought I was in a different thread, go figure).
