View Full Version : HostCommunity.com for sale
HostComm 11-25-2002, 06:55 AM I'm looking to sell the following:
HostCommunity.com - $30,000
WebHostingMarket.com - $20,000
****************** - $15,000
HostRepository - $10,000
If you buy all of these names in a bundle I'll drop the full price to $60,000 instead of what it would be - $75,000.
Thanks :)
Matt Alland
Our users have posted a total of 129 articles
We have 29 registered users -$ 30,000 ?!?!?!?!
no offense but thats insane, even with the domain
UH-Matt 11-25-2002, 07:07 AM hmm....
Webhostingmarket.com - $20,000
or
webhostingmarket.net is available - $6.95
:D
i can honestly say, no one on this forum would pay that for those domains. there are multiple reasons, one being they are too cheap.
have you taken a look at what people want here? For you to sell a domain for $20K it would have to include:
24/7/365 support for the domain for 10 years
101% uptime gaurantee on their cable tv
In person support while they are on vacation India
- you must also be able to feed their dog in the US at the same time!
10 Car washes a day
um, what else am i missing. Oh you must be 100% redundant, be multi-headed.. or was it homed.. damn i forget!
Mike343 11-25-2002, 08:03 AM wow, basically all it is right now is a forum and a few users for 20K? wow good luck on selling it.
vibesolutions 11-25-2002, 08:05 AM those are insane prices
I would never think of paying so much for a domain name..
never..
Darth 11-25-2002, 08:18 AM ****************** << lol - $15,000

ZiCmaN 11-25-2002, 08:53 AM Oh we would have paid those prices...................about 8 years ago;)
$200 is doable! .. 2000 would be pushing it.
I am also selling a domain:
willyoupayalotforthisnotsogreatdomain.com
Starting bid: $10,000
E-mail with questions!

;)
LMAO :stickout:
I am betting Robert didn't even pay that much for this forum.
last i heard it was 30,000$
NovaW 11-25-2002, 01:29 PM Wow - $30,000 for WHT - that was an incredible bargain - it's worth an easy $250,000
I hope Matt got more than $30K
Synthetic 11-25-2002, 03:04 PM The domain names themselves aren't worth that much. So, in order for you to be requesting such a high amount, the websites should have a well established brand with a large user base.
People are not going to be so generous, unless they are fools.
Also, HostRepository dot what? (.com, .vu, .gs??)
AdminWHF 11-25-2002, 03:14 PM he got WHT for way more then 30,000 more like 1.000.000 thats what i heard.
I heard he bought it from 2 guys for 1.000.000.00 USD (1 million)
I might be wrong , but thats what i heard
epitomized 11-25-2002, 03:49 PM I heard it was one billion?
Anyone hear one trillion?

I somehow doubt it was that much, but I don't think any of us will really know. In the agreement they had, the actual amount of the sale/purchase was not to be disclosed to the public.
Also, what 2 guys? At the time is was just Matt himself that owned the forum, I believe?
NovaW 11-25-2002, 04:26 PM $30,000 would be a steal, but $1million would be a pretty bad investment. Doesn't mean they didn't pay it though. Pretty sure WHT had only 1 owner prior to rackshack
vibesolutions 11-25-2002, 05:17 PM yes matt f was the owner before rackshack took over.
jon8457102 11-25-2002, 05:50 PM No offense, but get real.
snikle 11-25-2002, 11:12 PM How much do they make/charge for on the advertising? Anyone know? That would be a good indication of what the site was sold for.
AdminWHF 11-25-2002, 11:27 PM I got a quote for a top ad about 2-3 months about it was 1500$ a month
and i think pinned topics are 50$
and i only heard that he got 1 million, but i dont know :)
HostComm 11-26-2002, 02:53 AM I'm also doing more than selling my domains here - I'm looking for a huge investment for HostCompare.com. I'm going to revolutionize the hosting and anyone who joins me will prosper! I'm searching for $2.3 Million in funding. Anyone interested in making their small investment?
Thanks :)
Matt

You cannot be serious.
JBIZ718 11-26-2002, 09:03 AM First
lets start with webhostingmarket. What is the value proposition in making that a $20,000 investment.
I am interested to know

Not to get further off topic, but what could a hosting directory possibily use 2.3 mill for?
Zak
snikle 11-26-2002, 09:57 AM Pretty powerful claim "I'm going to revolutionize the hosting", exactly how do YOU plan on doing that? And what qualifications do you have?
For an investment of over 2 million, you better have one outstanding business model or a freaking awsome staff on hand ready to execute this.

Unrealistic might be an understatement. ;) I hope you've learned from this little topic that even the average WHTer isn't exactly naive. But good luck with those big ideas of your's.
HostComm 08-16-2003, 04:58 AM Thanks, its gonna' be excitin' I think; I have the new version of HostCompare.com coming out in the next few days. Much cleaner, more functional and such.
