Firstly, I have a reseller hosting account, with free whmcs, so this is just some thoughts. I've seen many resellers offer ClientExec free of charge by the upstream provider, but their own billing software is WHMCS. I've seen many make ClientExec seem the best in billing automation, but it makes me wonder...If its THAT good, why don't use it.

Many most likely use it as a cheap freebie compared to WHMCS, and I don't blame them for trying to save money, and its good that they offer some sort of billing solution... But When you see a "Powered by WHMCS" line on their ordering site, doesn't it make you wonder?

These are just thoughts, what do you all think?

It really comes down to personal preference. Some prefer WHMCS, others will prefer ClientExec. Personally, I prefer WHMCS as it's more simplistic and from my experience, more actively developed (although I will admit, I don't keep up with the development of ClientExec).

Since it's release, WHMCS has been the only billing script solution that I've really stuck with just due to experience with it and its ease of use.

We all do use WHMCS ( simple and ease to use ) and we love to offer CE as it cost less than WHMCS... :D

I own both license but only use WHMCS ATM.

They probably offer ClientExec because it's much cheaper than WHMCS so they can afford to give that out for free than WHMCS. But as Michael said above, it comes down to personal preference. We were thinking about offering CE but we use WHMCS as well, mostly because of the pricing, CE is more worth it with smaller amount of customers.

We offered clientexec a few years ago and then migrated to WHMCS. The users LOVED the transition, but up until that point they were quite happy with ClientExec as a free add-on.
