If I were to want to know why a member got a warning, how would I go about doing that? Would PM'ing a Mod be OK? Reason I ask is because if someone where to have a warning level, and I were considering either offering or receiving a service, then I would like to know what they received the points for.

Does this seem fair enough to ask? Or does it become too much of a hassle and invasion of privacy?

99.9% of the time users are warned for posting self-promotion where they shouldn't have. The other 0.1% is for flaming. They can get points for various things, but that about covers the majority of the issues we warn for.

Really, the warning system and points should have been decided before it was installed, but I don't think anyone knew exactly how it worked, and it was put up to test. We have to go through it, and tweak it for it to be really useful.
