I have started a Web Hosting company. Now that that is done....How do I get people to actualy find out about it? Are there places that are good to advertise or something???? Any help is appreciated.

IMO, it takes quite a while if you're using a 0-dollar budget for marketing your company. Meaning word of mouth, etc.

If you have an actual pool for your marketing budget, go for places such as TopHosts.com (web host dir), 'computer'-related websites (TomsHardware.com), etc.

I also found that print ads in popular magazines such as PCWorld, PCMagazine, etc. help boost the reputation for your company. However, print ads can run up to a couple hundred dollars.

I would suggest hitting up the local market before looking to the web.

Customers of an Ice Cream shop would most likely be kids don't you think?

IQ test time!

a) Some kids shop in ice cream stores,
b) Not all kids shop in ice cream stores,
c) Only kids shop in ice cream stores.

Which of the following is true:

a) , b) & c)
a) & b)
a) & c)
c) & b)
None of the above

Okay, so say more kids visit the store then adults. Is that a reason to turn down free advertising? :)

Try
1) Pay per click
2) Hosting Directories
3) Webmaster Sites

Is advertising on webmaster sites beneficial? I would think that most webmasters would be aware of reseller accounts...

I go to ice cream shops... I'm not a kid.

I eat ice cream and I vote! btw - when I was a kid, I used to buy ice cream without adult supervision.

Now that that is out of the way.

Some low cost ways to advertise:

1) join a local chamber of commerce
2) join a business networking group, like LeTip
3) write articles for local pennysaver, newspaper
4) write articles for websites like Workz
5) direct mail - send a postcard to new business registrations in your local county or within a fixed radius.
6) give a speech or presentation to a local business group, like the JayCees, Elks or people on a street corner (this really only works if you are in LA or NYC)

You should also optimize your site for seach engines. Subscribe to a few marketing mailing lists, like Wilsonweb.com.

Hope this helps.

Do alot of offline work - get your name out by totlhosting's ideas as well as write some press releases and generate some buzz

What insane raptor is saying is true local market is one of your best resources.. Hell i go to the local supermarkets, flea markets anywhere I can post my ads on a every three week basis.. and it works just make up some flyers and stick them up ANYWHERE you see a public bulletin board. I have also gotten a table at local computer shows and have seen good results from that all you need it a laptop and the ability to call out via cellphone or if they have a connection for you. If you dont have that offer 24 hours setup so that way when the show is over go home and set them up, only downfall to this is that you will need a full merchant account in order to legally enter the credit card information.

While the web is a great resource and I still advertise in some places I have found that 8/10 times people are looking for the cheapest they can find.

Basically get your name out to as many targeted places as you can ... and all the little efforts will add up ;)
