View Full Version : @webhost network
"The @Webhost.com network uses muti-homed bandwidth provided by 2 top carriers of United States which are Cogent Communications and NTT/Verio. Routed by BGP4 NTT/Verio provides full redundancy to Cogent Communications, delivering spectacular uptime at blazing fast speeds!"
What exactly does that mean? Cogent primary with verio backup? Can someone explain?
Its simple....................If one goes down other will activate
Neo3Net 11-24-2002, 06:01 PM They use Cogent as a primary and verio as backup.

cogent has been replced by aleron
clocker1996 11-24-2002, 06:15 PM aleron is good. glad they got rid of cogent.
SrvOutsource 11-24-2002, 06:20 PM Hmm.
That's interesting, as far as I am aware, Aleron is not "On-Net" at the data center they are located in.
But that would not stop them from bring in a DS-3 or higher.
AL-Benjamin 11-24-2002, 06:20 PM never had an issue with cogent

SrvOutsource 11-24-2002, 06:59 PM Andrew,
Yes, wholesalebandwidth is porting Aleron bandwidth over a Epik cross-connect to that data center from another.
But as my post mentioned, Aleron is not "On-Net".
I have nothing against Shaun or Wholesalebandwidth, as we use them for our Cogent bandwidth.
Aleron is "On-Net" at the data center we are located in, and there equipment is actually in the next cage.
Andrew 11-24-2002, 08:30 PM Ahh ok cool :)
SrvOutsource 11-27-2002, 04:41 PM Actually Wholesalebandwidth has lost Aleron.
So @webhost will have to get that bandwidth there somehow else now.
Andrew 11-27-2002, 04:55 PM Sucks to be them then. :(
When it comes to high quality at a nice price, Aleron is one of the best out there in my book.

Actually, we're dropping Wholesalebandwith. We've decided its in our best interests to drop the third party and go directly to the bandwith providers themselves. We cannot afford unstable connections any longer. Thanks =)
BiGWill 11-27-2002, 05:59 PM which means ... what?
you'll get a direct feed from aleron now?
or some other provider?
best regards,

best regards,
We are getting a direct feed from Cogent and Verio instead. This will mean new IP addresses, however, its for the better. We are - HOPING - to get Xpedient. Only time will tell.
SrvOutsource 11-27-2002, 09:16 PM Andrew,
We know.
We have a circuit with them, since they are at our data center.
In fact they are in the next cage. :)
