Hi, when I try to use secure pop in outlook express I get the following warning:

"A Certificate chain processed correctly, but terminated in a root certificate which is not trusted by the trust provider"

I have an i n s t a n t s s l certificate.
It works fine after I click yes, and I know I can have outlook express to trust the cert but I was just wondering if I'm supposed to get these warnings in the first place?

I don't have these problems with thawte certs.

Hello,

Does it keep happening? Is that the problem?

Every time I start outlook express and check the e-mail account for the first time I get the warning.

Is it normal that I get the warning with an i n s t a n t s s l cert?

Hello,

Not sure....
Does it give you an option to "do not show this warning again"? Twawte certficates are the best with GeoTrust very close second in my opinion.

Get a QuickSSL cert for $49 from Rackshack.net :)

I know how to fix the warning (add root certificate to trusted list) , but I expect certificates to be fully compatible with recent e-mail clients.

However this would mean that the certs are not trusted by default in outlook express...

I was thinking about Geotrust certs, but I decided to go with i n s t a n t s s l.
According to a browser compatibility chart (saw a link in this forum) they are compatible with more browsers than geotrust certs.
Don't know about e-mail clients though :)

I would go with GeoTrust myself.

Might try geotrust next time.

I just did some searches in google and it seems that I should not be getting this warning.

I installed it on a cpanel server through WHM, so it might have something to do with exim or ssl configuration on the server.
