CPanel/WHM Issue:
I moved an account that had 10 add-ons.

I've noticed a couple of different issues I was wondering if you guys could help out with.

First, I noticed the DNS for the main account updated to show the IP address of the new server (this is correct). The add-ons, however, still show the old IP address. Tracerts show the add-ons coming from the old server. I attempted to update the DNS via WHM to show the new servers IP address. That add-on began showing the generic apache 'Hey...It worked! If you are seeing this page.....' To get this site back up, I attempted to change the IP back to the old server address. It continues to show the generic Apache page. Running a tracert on that domain, it is coming from the old server (just like the rest of the add-ons)....When I run the dig command, all the entries for all the add-ons look the same, including the one that isn't working.

I have also run the /scripts/updateuserdomains and it did nothing.
I have syncronized the DNS of both servers and performed a DNS clean-up. Nothing is working to fix that one domain. I also restarted BIND to see if that would help..no go.

I will need to move all of these add-ons to the new server, but with the result of the one add-on, I'm not sure how the DNS should read for add-ons.

Any help with this portion would be greatly appreciated.

Second Issue:
After moving the account and logging into the CPanel of the main account, none of the add-ons are showing. When managing the add-ons, there are none listed. Again, the scripts/updateuserdomains doesn't fix this.
What could be causing this issue?

I can't help, but I also noticed the cron jobs aren't moved. Not a biggie, but just wanted to let people know.

I hadn't noticed if the crons had made it (don't think this customer is using them).

The account started working. I deleted the DNS and set it up again from scratch (using the old IP). Within a few hours the site was working again. These are still using the old IP addresses on the on old server. I don't want a repeat of last night of changing the DNS and all sites going to that generic page. What would be the successful method of getting these add-ons updated and resolving to the new server?

Hello,

When you moved the accounts over did you try calling the accounts to make sure they actually work like so:

http://serverip/~username

If not, try that. DNS takes upto 48 hours to update worldwide and show.

Could not get them to work like that. I didn't realize that Add-on domains could be accessed like that. If they do not show, what is the next step in moving an add-on only if the main account is already moved?

Hello,

Ummm... Addon domains? The url format I gave you is for main accounts only. Addon domains would be:

http://serverip/~username/subdomain/

In that case, than yes. They are all there. The files themselves moved over and are intact. The main domain to this account resolves to the new server. However, all of the add-ons still point to the old server. When I changed the DNS to reflect the IP address of the new server, that is when that generic Apache page started appearing. The main domain is fine, just the add-on domains I can't update the DNS without getting that apache page.
