View Full Version : Q for designers...

I wasn't sure where to post this, so apologies in advance if this is incorrect. I just have a quick question for the designers I've seen posting things here -- what sort of places do you use to find decent quality "people photos" for your designs?

Note that I'm a developer -- I'm not a designer and certainly don't intend to become one (no talent :) ).

Here's an explanation -- I'm working on a software package that will have a "demo" site to show people how the package can manipulate their sites for them (aimed mostly at the mortgage broker/realty worlds). Most potential customers have sites that include a picture of themselves, so we'd like to have a photo on this site as well. Just your basic "trustworthy-looking business man in a suit" type of picture.

I've been to www.corbis.com and www.stockbytes.com, but it can be pretty expensive to get even a "plain" photo. And at those prices, I don't see how designers could make money at the prices most charge for a template.

That said... any ideas where I can find an either free-to-use or relatively inexpensive picture along these lines? It doesn't need to be very large and could even be a silhouette type of picture.

Thanks for any ideas,

J

PS - Neither my partner or I want to put on a suit and use a picture of ourselves -- we want people to be willing to come to the site :)

Some other free (comparable) alternatives to istockphotos are http://www.zuadobank.com and http://stock.d2.hu

Thanks for the links, gang... I really appreciate it. I found just what I needed at http://www.istockphoto.com (note there was no "s" in "photos"). I've bookmarked the other links, though, as they may come in handy down the road.

Thanks again!
