View Full Version : Welp, Instant Activation is a definite "no"

Working on a new project (www.8-95.com) in a partnership with another guy and decided to make the signups have instant activation (using paypal and hostcharge passbacks) well, we haven't even launched yet, and have had a total of 7 orders so far, 3 were fraudulent (and not just Hostcharge crying wolf either). 2 came in tonight.

That's roughly the number of fraudulent orders I've had ALL YEAR with dixiesys.com so advertising instant activation on your site is definitely not a good thing, as 3/7 is a helluva big difference from 4/1000's.

Yeah I know, what was I thinking, this is the internet, home to Timmys, hackers, and script kiddies galore, not to mention spammers. But I had to try it I guess.

Wow, that's a lot... sorry about the trouble.

Heh I asked for it, when people said "you'll get a lot of fraud" I figured, like maybe 2% wasn't really counting on 3 out of 7 hahaha oh well no real harm done just kinda made me chuckle more than anything.

I guess you can't really have a good credit card validator when you're on instant activation either... I agree that you might want to take off the advertisement for instant activation if it keeps occurring :)

It would work better using a real CC processor and using direct passing to the gateway. Then you get AVS checks CVVS checks etc. Let me know if you need a hand:)
