sounds illegal, or a massive legal site... but anyway...
20,000 downloads of a 3MB mp3 file = 60GB
20,000 downloads of a 4MB mp3 file = 80GB

no not illegal. all legal files.
and did you mean 20,000 downloads of a 3MB mp3 file = 60GB
per/mounth? andthe web site user click?
i asked the total bandwith usage? can you give me an avarage plase?
well a site with 50k unique hits, (static html/php pages)
could generate around 100gig/month usage.
so... 3mb files could use alot with heavy traffic. 400gig?

It's really hard to tell...
If 20,000 people download a 3MB mp3 from your server each month, that equals 60GB. If all of them also happen to view 20KB of graphics and HTML pages, that's an extra 400MB.
Just multiply the KB or MB you expect each user to download or view by the number of visitors you expect, to get the total number.

I'd say 200GB would be decent.

Well... if you get 20,000 visitors per day, and 5,000 of them download a 3MB mp3 file, 5,000 x 3 = 15GB/day, = 450GB per month. It's simple math.
