Has anyone had their pet flown from one city to another, in the US via airplane? I am talking about unaccompanied flights. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Well I flew 2 cats from Germany to Greece once and I had them with me next to my seat. I gave them 2 Valium each cause they wouldn't shut up with only one :D

But everything was fine when they woke up the next day :D :D

No joke btw :)

I had a terrior transported. Now I know what they designed the wheel wells for on the plane. JK! It's been a long time, don't remember how much it cost. I think it was something around $150. They don't allow big animals, and you provided your own crate with water/food. Umm thats about all that comes to mind at the moment.

Thanks NocSol. But I said, "unaccompanied" or in other words, just putting the pet on a flight by itself.

Careful, they might think your cat is a bomb and not let you take it aboard...

wow what a cat !

what I've done in Australia is met other peoples' pets at the airport ... the vet is the one to go to for medication, don't give her any drugs yourself, she'll need to be pretty doped to travel ... check if you have to provide a special container these extras can add up .. and have someone meet her at the other end so she's whisked off fast away from the noise and the crowds without being too upset

Vladimir Ilyich is a 12 year old black castrati, he's still got the eye for a neatly turned paw though

and yes, that's his name, I have it on his official registration papers when I pay his fees every year, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin Duffy, they always get confused down at the local government offices

what a role model interactive, my cat spends a lot of his time with one paw pointing up and outwards . I don't know why he does that, it's weird, he's sitting here looking at me now with his paw pointing to something in the future .. like those statues of Lenin

I would suggest checking with the carriers. During summertime many airlines will not transport animals unless they are aid/military animals and then they ride in the cabin. You vet should be able to provide medication to help keep the cat calm.

Good Luck!
