View Full Version : ClientExec or WHMCS?
digicracka 12-17-2009, 09:20 PM I've basically decided that in order to not only look professional, but also have the ability to grow, I am not going to use one of the free invoicing softwares. The paid ones all seem to be around the same price, so that's about where I am stuck.
WHMCS seems to be the most popular as I see it on every other host site. I will be offering hosting from more than one server, depending on the packages. Which of these ( or any other )software would be best suited for this?
Your input is much appreciated.
Nick H 12-17-2009, 09:53 PM WHMCS.
ClientExec used to be a nice alternative before they went and tried to compete -- now it just sucks.
MikeTrike 12-18-2009, 12:34 AM My vote still leans toward WHMCS, CE is not bad though. But WHMCS FTMFW!
decor 12-18-2009, 01:35 AM used CE, now use WHMCS, WHMCS is better and developing at a faster rate with a good community and contributes
cheers

hostwebdata 12-18-2009, 02:10 AM WHMCS got my vote
netvnasia 12-18-2009, 02:23 AM Yes, I used Clientexec and WHMCS. WHMCS is better but Clientexec use cache so better loading.
digicracka 12-18-2009, 02:56 AM Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I guess that's why every other web host has that installed, it's the best.
e-Sensibility 12-18-2009, 02:59 AM There are a million of these threads -- WHMCS always wins.
But since I'm here anyway . . . WHMCS
ahdon 12-18-2009, 03:20 AM Does WHMCS have chinese language supported inside?
aiden11 12-18-2009, 05:03 PM WHMCS all the way
HostXNow 12-18-2009, 05:23 PM I've only ever used WHMCS so can't really compare the two. I haven't had any problems with WHMCS.
PogiWeb 12-19-2009, 01:32 AM Both products are both very good, but I would also have to give it up to WHMCS. The overall core of the software is very stable and user friendly.
Ableer Web Services 12-19-2009, 01:21 PM I am going to be one of the others who have to say that WHMCS is a overall great program no matter what point of view your from(clients, admins, reps)
I would say you will have a better bet with WHMCS although again... allot of people are using WHMCS which in most cases you want to stand out from your competition.
Good luck with your choice.
I hope you make the best of it. :)
devonblzx 12-19-2009, 02:10 PM I personally have used Clientexec for 3 years and have loved it. Have only run into a few issues but their support were able to fix it up for us quickly. I suppose after 3 years of use with any software you expect to run into an issue here and there.
I like Clientexec so I will continue to use it.
astraxis 12-19-2009, 03:32 PM My vote is also in for WHMCS.

crazydeals 12-19-2009, 03:43 PM I have used both ClientExec and WHMCS. I would vote for WHMCS as they have more features and functionality than ClientExec.
VicksHost 12-19-2009, 04:04 PM Another vote for WHMCS.
oliviakitty 12-19-2009, 04:31 PM I have had a better experience with WHMCS.
SwaggaHost 12-19-2009, 05:10 PM I am currently using ClientExec i am pretty happy with it, but from using WHMCS as a customer, i still feel it is more user-friendly than ClientExec. One thing i really don't like about ClientExec is the produc view once you have clicked 'Order' on the sidebar.
I think it is a little to bilky, where as WHMCS's product view is nice, clean and orderly.
Bare in mind this is just me comparing the two from a design perspective.
When it comes to back-end 'stuff' i think there is little difference. They are both very powerfull pieces of kit!
Jon-RackSRV 12-19-2009, 05:26 PM I too have used ClientExec and WHMCS (both for over a year a piece) and by far the best is WHMCS. The software is much more feature packed and has a thriving community which are constantly releasing third party plugins and modules which can be very useful!
XeHSean 12-19-2009, 09:33 PM Definitely choose WHMCS over clientexec
Abbie 12-19-2009, 10:44 PM WHMCS and its not blindly we too use it for our business.
rkenney 12-19-2009, 11:16 PM WHMCS gets my vote
JohnJ 12-19-2009, 11:49 PM Go with WHMCS.
Kevin K 12-19-2009, 11:58 PM I really can't say anything bad about WHMCS. I used Modernbill for many years until they went down the tubes and then switched to WHMCS. I can't imagine anything better. They are ALWAYS coming out with great new features and their support is second to none.
fwaggle 12-20-2009, 12:18 AM I really can't say anything bad about WHMCS.
To play devil's advocate, I can! :D
The API is poorly, awfully documented and most posts to the forum are responded to by "the usual crowd" implying it'd be easier just to pay the dev to write a module instead of doing it yourself (to be fair, the dev(s) himself never tries to drum up business this way).
Other than that though, it's a great little package for the pricetag. There are numerous other small areas it could be improved for sure, but I really don't think you'll find a better package for the price.
The-Pixel 12-20-2009, 01:53 AM No competition, WHMcs wins every time :D
rotame 12-21-2009, 02:46 PM One more vote for WHMCS.
if you will be using the software for taking support for your clients - clientexec is the main option. It's support area and section is far greater than whmcs. We use both and find we had to buy a third party app to handle the support for our whmcs clients.
LENOVOhost 12-21-2009, 09:46 PM HI
WHMCS is the best to me My vote goes to WHMCS only
inspiron 12-22-2009, 08:52 AM I am sure that more vote will leans toward the WHMCS only.
rgpayne 12-22-2009, 08:54 AM Hands down WHMCS - I have tried others and WHMCS is the best on the market - Support is top of the line and available when you need them ... 110% vote for Matt and his crew at WHMCS
:agree:

SwaggaHost 12-22-2009, 09:04 AM One thing i hate about ClientExec is the adminCP, i find WHMCS's to be so much easier to navigate and just some of the functions are much easier to use than in ClientExec.
