Make sure you spoon off the excess grease when roasting the turkey :D:D:D davidb 11-24-2002, 02:36 AM Normally we have some friends over. This year I plan to spend the entire time drunk, especially when they realize that I swiped all their hard liquer over the past 2 months from our michigan house (and I mean a lot) Acroplex 11-24-2002, 03:20 AM Originally posted by davidb Normally we have some friends over. Then he sat me down, and he spoke real slow, And he told me there was something that I just had to know; His look and his tone I will always remember, When he told me of horrors... .come late in November: "Come about August, now listen to me, Each day you'll get six meals instead of just three, And soon you'll be thick, where once you were thin, And you'll grow a big rubbery thing on your chin; And then one morning, when you're warm in your bed, the farm wife comes in and hacks off your head; Then she'll pluck out your feathers so you're all bald 'n pink, And scoop out your innerds right there in the sink; And then comes the worst part" he said...... I'm not bluffing, She'll spread your cheeks wide n' pack your rear end with stuffing". Well, the rest of his words were too grim to repeat, I sat on the stoop like a winged piece of meat. And decided on the spot that to avoid being cooked, I'm gonna lay low to remain overlooked I began a new diet of nuts and granola, High-roughage salads, carrot juice, and diet cola; And as they ate pastries, chocolate, and crepes, I stayed in my room doing Jane Fonda tapes. I maintained my weight of two pounds and a half, And acted sick when the bigger birds laughed; for 'twas I who was laughing, under my breath, As they chomped and they chewed, ever closer to death; And sure enough when late November rolled around, I was the last turkey left walking around...... So now I'm a pet in the farmer's wife's lap; I haven't a worry, so I eat...... and I nap; She holds me all day, while sewing and humming, And smiles at me, and says: "Christmas is coming..." Chicken is the perfect edible greasy tasty bird :) Duck is my favorite greasy poultry, although I have chicken more often due to price and availability. I've been deep frying my turkeys for the past 6 - 7 years. It keeps all the juices in the meat, even the breast stays juicy. Plus the crispy skin is my favorite. My cholesterol is already shooting up, but oh well... Happy Thanksgiving to all (US) and for the rest, have a nice day. :) Who's your favorite TG day football team, Lions or Cowboys? epitomized 11-25-2002, 04:06 PM My family suckered me this year . . . We were supposed to be going to a different house this year and I was all psyched. As soon as I sent my RSVP, I was told the plans changed and we will end up where we do EACH AND EVERY YEAR! It's not so bad, but I was really looking forward to the change. But last year, I opted to make dinner. I called my mom at 9 a.m. asking her where the gizzards were. She had me turning the turkey round and round looking for that bag. After 20 minutes, I swore to her that my hand had been in EVERY cavity of the bird and there WAS NO BAG! Turns out, I had paid a premium for a 15 lbs turkey breast . . . I was wondering why that turkey was so expensive! |
