Hey,
What is the best time of day to choose for the billing system to generate and send customer invoices?

I would say at 12:00AM if you have a lot of clients as that is the best time for server performance. I also like to give the clients about a 7-day notice so we create invoices 7-days before they are due.

Well said. Agreed.

I found that if I run the invoicing cron between 8AM and 9AM that I get the most immediate payments made ;)

I played with the times for a while and it seemed that when invoice emails are sent between these times people tend to login and pay right away :)

We generate invoices 10 days in advanced with a reminder at 5, 3, and on the due date.

That is actually a good idea.
I often do the same in the morning

7 Days, Reminders at 3,2,1 then Suspend at day 3, Late fees on day 1 overdue.

Our system generates and sends invoices at 3am EST each night. This seems to be when our systems are least used.

6 and 12 month term clients receive their invoice 2 weeks in advance.

3 and 1 month term clients receive their invoice 1 week in advance.

We stop server after 24 hours of overdue and remove service after 4-5 days of overdue.

You may first of all think about the time zones, for example some companies would stick to the standard GMT while others may like the Universal Time standards. Some normal ranges could be great like 9-5 and do not forget replying to the tickets as fast as possible.

Depends on your location relative to your clients.

We have 3/4th in the U.S. so 2AM CST does nicely for us. Which makes it 12:00AM for the west coast, 4:00AM for the east coast. The rest of our clients on the other side of the planet varies. I guess it does not really matter though as long as it comes on their bill due date.
