View Full Version : The lowest per megabit price I've ever seen.... (subtitle: Cogent/$1.50 on 1GB)

Title pretty much says it all. We've been assigned a new account manager that has the ability to offer us a full gigabit circuit at the rate of $1,500 per month.

Not sure on the details yet, but it's intriguing to me. I know firsthand that Cogent loves 3 year contracts (who can blame them?) and that port activation fees can be up to $5,000. Still, the price is a steal given that Cogent is a legitimate tier 1 backbone.

Anyone else have any feedback on this offer or have they received it as well? Feel free to send me a PM if you want contact details for our new rep, though I've yet to speak to him personally.

John,

This has been heavily discussed here, which you missed it perhaps: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=910739

HE.net is also offering similar/lower pricing.

If HE offers it, I would suggest go with HE. I've used them for 8 years or so and would highly recommend them.

It's still Cogent..

Is that a problem? In the past, many budget providers have bought Cogent bandwidth and then oversold it, giving Cogent an undeserved bad reputation. The reality is that their network really is decent, especially for the price.
