Vito N9ne 11-23-2002, 08:08 AM 24 MONTHS?! WOWOWOW!!! My host has been up for 3 days :S dynamicnet 11-23-2002, 08:44 AM Greetings: Did the article state if a 3rd party audited the results? Or is the company stating they had 100% up time for 24 months without any 3rd party verification? Thank you. NexDog 11-23-2002, 08:46 AM Well, it's easier to keep a router up than a server and that is what they are talking about. This is a feat that is almost unheard of in our industry Umm, not at all. Lippy 11-23-2002, 08:53 AM Originally posted by NexDog Well, it's easier to keep a router up than a server and that is what they are talking about. Umm, not at all. A router, or a Server? Which are they talking about? NexDog 11-23-2002, 08:55 AM No-one can keep a shared server up for 24 months - believe me. Aussie Bob 11-23-2002, 08:59 AM Originally posted by NexDog No-one can keep a shared server up for 24 months - believe me. Keyword here is network uptime. Still, they seem to do a tremendous job. :) dynamicnet 11-23-2002, 09:00 AM Greetings: "Keyword here is network uptime. Still, they seem to do a tremendous job. " That's nice, but did a 3rd party firm audit the results? === OOPS... posts coming too fast, should have scrolled up more... sorry. Thank you. NexDog 11-23-2002, 09:01 AM Yep, I was just about to mention that. That's why I said they were talking about their routers. Hostnexus's dedicated server has been up 3 months - ever since we we brought it online and moved the site there but as I said, a shared server is a different matter. Darth 11-23-2002, 09:04 AM wow :) Alex[nl] 11-23-2002, 10:55 AM I am no host, so I wouldn't know if this is a tremendous thing or not .. . but congratz to RackMy for achieving this ... just one Q: And since then, says RackMy, the company’s network has not experienced a single minute of interrupted Internet connection to customer serversDoes that have anything to do with the fact the server is up or not?? DanielP 11-23-2002, 11:08 AM From the looks of it, its just network level only, although its possible and they may have a very well setup to avoid downtime its a bit hard to believe 100% uptime without even a blip... but it is possible if you put enough money into it. Three Redundant Routers with feeds from every ISP into each router will do the trick. neil 11-23-2002, 12:09 PM did this just turn into an advertising thread? allan 11-23-2002, 12:53 PM Originally posted by DanielP From the looks of it, its just network level only, although its possible and they may have a very well setup to avoid downtime its a bit hard to believe 100% uptime without even a blip... but it is possible if you put enough money into it. Its difficult, which is why I thought it was worth mentioning, but it is not impossible (Conxion and Rackspace have been able to do it :)). Having talked extensively with Mike I know they have a pretty good setup and sitting in an Inflow datacenter certainly helps. As far as 3rd party verification goes, I have no idea -- as someone pointed out it is just a press release, but I am sure Mike can answer anyone's questions. adam 11-23-2002, 12:54 PM Congrats RackMY phpcoder 11-23-2002, 01:01 PM Yes, congradulations :) You get what you pay for :D RackMy.com 11-23-2002, 03:50 PM Thanks every one! We get beat up around here at WHT all the time about our price, but it does take a lot to provide this level of uptime. We choose a high quality provider who has a completely redundant network and continue that redundancy down (we also have redundant routers/switches). Yes, the release was our celebration of accomplishing 100% Network Uptime for 24 months. This does not include our servers but we do have several customers who have had 100% site uptime for a very long time (but that is another press release :)). Thanks again to everyone for their support and nice comments! Acroplex 11-23-2002, 05:26 PM Nice seeing something positive in this industry :D StarGate 11-23-2002, 06:32 PM Congrats, this is very nice, 24 MONTHS uptime... heh if i had a server having that displayed by the "top" command I would NEVER ever reboot it again... and look at it all day long :D Acroplex 11-23-2002, 06:40 PM Originally posted by NocSol Congrats, this is very nice, 24 MONTHS uptime... heh if i had a server having that displayed by the "top" command I would NEVER ever reboot it again... and look at it all day long :D Hehe I won't reveal who this person is...but I know of a case of a reseller (colocation) that has a 48" TV in his house and uses it to monitor the "top" 24/7..even when he's in bed!
