For years I've used ReadyHosting for several domains - my own, my clients' sites, etc. and I've had it with them. Although they provide great things like a fair yearly charge, cgi, asp, etc., I find their customer service appalling and intend to move my sites to a better host.

Please recommend web hosting companies with all the bells and whistles I'd need as a freelance web producer (pop3 e-mail boxes, ample storage, asp, cgi, etc.) along with very good customer service and maybe even web development resources - I'd really appreciate your help!

Thank you!

It would help if we knew your budget.

I'm currently spending $99/yr but I'd be willing to spend up to $20 or $30/month if I need to -

I am seeing a lot of hate mail regarding Ready Hosting. I have used them for several years with great success, however, I have started having odd problems. I am wondering if they are going downhill.

The e-mail system started downloading the same messages multiple times. At one point I had 20 copies of the same mail. I was advised to delete the accounts and re-create them. I didn't and the problem cleared a few weeks later.

Three of my four sites became very flaky. The fourth was on DNS 5 and DNS 6 while the other three were on DNS 1 and DNS 2. I asked to have the three moved. Tech Support agreed and I moved my registry pointers to DNS 5 and DNS 5. Two days later I was mostly down. Tech Support wanted to know why I had re-pointed my sites to the other servers. Once they fixed it on their end all was much better than before.

I have had a number of other glitches, which generally were assumed to be my fault. Some tech people don't seem to read their mail and answer the wrong questions.

What is really odd is that no longer do they charge $99 per year up front. Now they charge $99 per month, with the last 11 months free. I wrote and this is NOT a mistake.

So, anyone know what gives with Ready Hosting? I am looking at Dathorn but I will take other recommendations as well.

So if you don't have a problem in the first 30 days (do they have a 30 day guarantee?) - you're basically SOL for the remaining 11 months? OUCH! :erm:

Wow... thats scary!

No, they will refund the difference. But why would they word it like that, when for years it was $99 per year? They have always charged $99 per year and offered a pro-rated refund if you cancel.

Hmmm. That is curious, isn't it. Both were replies.

Are you saying replies don't count?

Cheers
