What're the major differences between the 2 versions. I don't see any particular drastic change. :(

continue to upload. It is not likely to be out so soon I figure.

I'd wait till 2.2.9 comes outa RC before upgrading.. The XSS hole is very hard to exploit, so its not a big thing..

if you read the forum, I think most of the changes is in the backend (the core engine). Someone mentioned it is now easier to build a site using the engine. Not too sure about that.

According to the developers, a lot of the changes also seem to be on the administration (i.e. a lot more features)

At this moment I will still prefer invision. It's free.

vB3's main difference besides features is a near-rewrite which includes supposedly incredible speed boosts. THE VB3 BETA SITES ARE NOT RUNNING WITH THE FINAL STYLE SET so that's not what vB3 will really end up looking like.

Read the post right above yours.

First off, any genius with a text editor can do formatting changes and move tables around. You make it sound like that's hard to do.

Second, I would rather have them fix bugs, increase efficiency, and close exploits than make it look all fancy with java context menus and flash buttons and a whole bunch of other useless crap (which is what the new 3.0 being pushed by Open Topic is, it has not fixed ANY bugs at all) which I don't want and will probably get rid of anyhow.

Besides, if you can't change the look of one of the most popular forum scripts around, should you really be here? Unless you enjoy having a site that looks just like every single other.

Also.. Good reason not to upgrade to the RC...

There was another XSS found in the code, and will be fixed in 2.2.9 final...

v3 is a total rewrite of the script -- new template system... as well as other features that have been mentioned on changelog, etc.

The style may still be be same on the main board, but the style will be totally different come final release. Supposively much better than before (not that the purple monster was good looking lol ;) ).

Its well worth upgrading to v3 from v2.x

From what the developers have said, its not a complete rewrite, just many parts..

I won't pass my final judgement on vB3 till I see the code, and see if they coded it better...

I remember having to fix the work arounds coded in by developers so I could make it work the way I wanted... Saw to many copy and paste jobs when a new peice of code should have been written..

Looks to me like an obscenely overmodded and bloated vB2.

A funny thing about vbulletinhosting.com, is that I was going to register that domain several months before they did. I should've grabbed it when I could've... It would've been a hellovalot better than the service/support they offered! lol

Good thing it wasn't Jelsoft that was actually doing the hosting... that would've been really bad!
