View Full Version : Moneybookers: Account is blocked
Diane Hernandez 12-05-2009, 03:47 PM Hi everyone,
Iīve been using Moneybookers for a couple of months since Paypal is not available in my country to receive payments :/
Iīve received a payment for a customer the other day but when I wanted to withdraw the money they (Moneybookers) give me this message:
"Your account is locked for outgoing transfers and credit/debit card payments therefore we cannot complete this transaction.
To unlock your account, you must provide us with scanned copies of the following documents:
* Your valid official identification document such as your international passport, national identity card or driving licence;
* Proof of address such as recent utility bill or bank statement;
So my question,is is this secure? maybe is a silly question, but this happened to you?
Vinayak_Sharma 12-05-2009, 04:59 PM Yes this is secure, they are dealing with international money transactions so they have to make sure about your identity.
HighLayer 12-05-2009, 06:09 PM Yes, this is secure and it is a common procedure. Provide them the documents, and they will unlock your account.
mellow-h 12-05-2009, 08:28 PM For the first credit card transaction they usually verify the identity of the seller as well. Provide the documents and they will unlock your account.
Diane Hernandez 12-05-2009, 10:18 PM Thank you very much for your replies
AirJordansHead 12-06-2009, 12:48 AM Hi, Diane
I think Moneybookers has upgraded their security features and I have also received some notifications from it to upgrade my account.
I also think you might verify your account with them firstly. :)
Have a nice day,

Better avoid Moneybookers See the review of the Moneybookers in many sites You will your self close your account with Moneybookers If you continue with them then one day other you will lose your account with the balance in the account

I think MB is a serious company, they donīt have the right to close my account and go away with my money, I donīt like too much Moneybookers but paypal is not available in my country, maybe Alertpay is another option, :/ I donīt know
Diane Hernandez 12-07-2009, 03:31 PM I think moneybookers only close accounts with low transactions :/ but mine is locked so Iīve sent them an email with my ID and Iīve received this email:
"Thank you for your prompt response.
Your documents are being processed by our security department.
In order to unlock your account we need to inquire you about the reason for the amounts you are receiving/sending and your relations to the senders.
Thank you for your help and cooperation."
so I hope MB donīt steal my money,:P I work hard and I just want to withdraw my money :)
Diane Hernandez 12-10-2009, 08:58 AM Iīve received an email from them today:

Hmmmm You are new to the MB i think Do you know MB is least supported payment gateway You do large transaction then you can see your account goes down
DesignBear 12-10-2009, 10:50 AM Just to calm a few of the recommendations you've been given on here that I believe are a little too hasty.
Moneybookers.com is a large, stable and respectable company who will not steal your money on you. As many e-currency websites have been used for money laundering in recent years, it's emperitive that MB ensure you are not using their services for said reason.
If you can provide identification and the documents they require, then you will have no problems using the service at all and you'll quickly find that your money is safe. Providing identification documents and bank statements is not a hard task, when you apply for a loan, apply for a mortgage or even try and open a bank account - you're usually asked for this information anyway.
PayPal is easier to get around as they are not solely UK based and as such aren't entirely controlled by the FSA regulations, you can open and freely use a PayPal account without needing to go to the extreme of identification. MB is just a lot more secure with its account control than PayPal but make no mistake that it's just as professional in it's operation as PayPal is.
Personally, I prefer PayPal - but only due to the extremely high demand of sites that allow PayPal payments. Moneybookers.com is widely accepted too, but not to the scale of PayPal.
Hope this helps :)

We were holding the account for the past four years even we submitted all the documents which they have requested. But without knowledge and reason they removed the account and took away the balance in the account. Just google and see the MB review then you can see what they are doing

what was the purpose you was using Moneybookers, Gambling? poker? I heard bad and good things about MB, but never like that. did you sent an email asking to them why they did that?
I see moneybookers widely accepted in betting sites, I wish it spread much more than paypal because MB is more international and accept all countries so you gain more foreign customers

yep, and MB is cheaper that Paypal but is just an option, other option is Alertpay, I think.

We've processed close to Ģ14,000 worth of transactions through Moneybookers in a little over 3 months, I'm pretty confident they wouldn't close your account without a good reason (perhaps the payments made to you were via a stolen credit card?).
DominicQuick 12-26-2009, 05:27 PM We've been using MoneyBookers for payments for the last 4 years.
At first we had to provide documents but once submitted via FAX everything was working fine.
Just send the documents and you will be fine.

thank you for your reply, everything is ok now, I was afraid because I heard bad things about MB but usually from people who uses MOneybookers for gambling and things like that. IĻm not play poker and nothing like that :)
M Bacon 12-26-2009, 08:41 PM Money Bookers has no chargebacks which could become a issue for people.
diggo 01-05-2010, 10:17 AM I recently had a request from MB to validate an account that hadn't been used for quite a while. I did not have a fax or scanner handy, so they accepted a digital camera pic of the documents. I think you can talk things over with them, it's been a good relationship so far (3y+).
