I was browsing the web for some professional design companies this morning for someone, and I came across these two sites about 10 minutes apart from each other. I was a little bit stunned when I saw both of them supposedly created some of the same sites.

Look at Mount Evans' designs:

Then look at Luna Webs' designs:

if you go to http://www.mountevansdesigns.com/contact.php you will see that they are the same company.

Also, you should also note that a lot of people use the same template services for websites and create duplicate looking sites, a red flag should go up when content is the same.

There is a ton of template duplicating going around. You are correct. I am not sure that is the best for any business. Having a competitor resemble you in appearance probably isn't the best marketing strategy. Unless you are trying to be a scam artist :) Although, I understand in many instances it is a cost effective way to produce a clean looking website.
