Hello,

I was interested in hearing how other people went about incorporating their website or getting other legal work done. I already have the TOS, AUP, PP. I'm mostly looking at registering the business as a LLC (Limited Liability Company). Also I was going to get a copyright for my website.

There's quite a few legal websites that offer these kind of services. The biggest of them is legalzoom.com.

http://www.legalzoom.com/limited-liability-company/limited-liability-company-pricing.html

Those are their packages for forming a LLC.

Basically if you pick the best package they have, for $360.00 + whatever fees your state charges for filing the legal work you get the following:

Preliminary clearance of your LLC's name
Filing of Articles of Organization
Custom operating agreement, including provisions protecting officers and managers from liability
LegalZoom Peace of Mind Review
Deluxe LLC Kit (javascript:openWindow_ext(%20"/limited-liability-company/llc-popup-shell.html?Index=9",%20"packageDetail"%20,%20"height=608,width=562,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes"%20);) embossed with your company name
Official company seal
20 customized membership certificates with transfer ledger
Priority Rush (javascript:openWindow_ext(%20"/limited-liability-company/llc-popup-shell.html?Index=14",%20"packageDetail"%20,%20"height=576,width=388,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes"%20);) service
(7-10 business days)
Over 40 essential business forms on CD-ROM, including employment and independent contractor agreements
Federal Tax ID (EIN) application preparation
Two-day FedEx delivery of final package

I'm not sure if the register my business form me with my town/state or wherever you have to form it, and if they handle the tax setups and what not, but it seems like there's a lot offered in the package.

Anyone have experience with this type of issue?

My comments are in bold(it was looking messy and confusing when I was adding my comments.

Well at least for illinois
Free - Preliminary clearance of your LLC's name(I actually saw a site earlier today charging $10 for this, when on most states websites its free)

State fee not included - Filing of Articles of Organization
Free and takes about 10 minutes - Federal Tax ID (EIN) application preparation

This is what your 360 is getting you(and of course not including state fees

-Two-day FedEx delivery of final package
-Over 40 essential business forms on CD-ROM, including employment and independent contractor agreements(I assume most of this can be gotten online)
-Priority Rush service(7-10 business days) - Now what this is, I do not know, you can pay extra, in most cases, for your state to rush the order, $100 extra for illinois, gets it done in 24 hours, I assume its like vistaprints shipping service, when I order buisness cards, im offered 3 speeds, 21 days($5), 14 days(about $10), or 3 days($20), price goes up. I order about 500-1000 each time and it takes 2 days for it to get shipped

# Custom operating agreement, including provisions protecting officers and managers from liability(worthwhile only if multiple people are filing)
# LegalZoom Peace of Mind Review(makes sure the information is correct by double checking you didn't miss a capitalization)
# Deluxe LLC Kit embossed with your company name(renamed stuff below and shipping)
# Official company seal(Just ask do you need it)
# 20 customized membership certificates with transfer ledger(most things, banks, merchants, etc will just look up your incorperation online, no real need for these)

Dont forget to tack on the 150-300 for your states AOI.

This is just my opinion, I would save the $360 personally .

I would recommend VALIS International, I've incorporate two of my companies with them and so far I am extremely satisfied with their services.

All the best with your business.

I personally like LegalZoom, I have dealt with them in the past with other companies that I have owned and I also copyrighted a few other things as well.
