View Full Version : Accurately measuring bandwidth usage

There are some threads I've read around here about disputes between host and customer about bandwidth usage in reseller accounts. Certain hosts have claimed that the bandwidth listed in WHM is not an accurate bandwidth measuring tool.

The WHM does not generate accurate stats because it does not meant to do that.
Well what is the best way to accurately measure bandwidth usage across different domains in a reseller account? Those webhosts that provide reselling accounts, what do you use?

Are certain hosts correct when they say WHM is not accurate? Please provide suggestions (if you can) on how to prevent disputes like this from happening to us. Also, if there is heavy MySQL traffic, will this show in the WHM stats?

thanks

you need to capture w3svc logs and run them through a log file analyzer. just make sure the customer doesn't have write access to the logs!

If you've got each reseller on a different IP address, you could use MRTG.

I agree that MRTG would probably be the best way to measure your bandwidth.
