View Full Version : The blame game.

Found this article on Yahoo and I was a bit enraged by the accusations. I'm not a fan of the show, but I did watch it while it was on MTV, and I did see it's recently released movie; but when will people start to realize that they are in control of their own actions? To blame something on a show shows how stupidly ignorant they were to their own conscience. Ok, sorry about the rant, just felt I need to get it off my chest.
MDJ2000 11-22-2002, 01:48 PM I agree completely, even as pathetic a show/movie as Jackass is. That maddox guy once wrote a great story about this, "finally a show named after it's target audience (http://maddox.xmission.com/mtvjackass.html) ".
As a society, we tend to find a way to keep idiots alive way too long. Some people are just so stupid they can't think up good ways to get themselves killed, I think Jackass serves a useful purpose in this sense...
The Dude 11-22-2002, 05:45 PM I would also have to agree,it is pathetic, but then again, most everything put out today is less than quality,so...........
The Dude :)
mind21_98 11-22-2002, 06:32 PM Does this deserve a Darwin Award? Anyways, this was a legal adult who did this. Do we now raise from 18 to 21 the legal adult age? *can see someone in Congress doing this now*
Gee, wonder why they called it Jackass?
My son and I were going to the movies, and he wanted to see that crap. I told him I'll make him a deal: He doesn't ask me to watch that, and I won't ask him to watch Frida.
(I didn't really want to see Frida, but my plan worked)
Acronym BOY 11-22-2002, 07:10 PM Nice one! Kids sometimes aren't too smart, but in this case it worked in your favor. :)
This brings up my point in the other thread:
Being held accountable for one's actions (aka responsibility) is a scary thing (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=709306#post709306).
Tropical Tundra 11-23-2002, 03:11 PM These are the same type of people who are suing Burger King, McDonalds and KFC because the fast food joints made them fat. Refusing to take responsibility for their own actions and the fact that if you eat egg mcmuffins for breakfast and big macs for lunch and dinner everyday and you don't exercise, guess what you'll get fat and maybe develop heart disease or diabetes. Yet they sue. Just like those people suing Jackass/MTV!
Article on fat teens suing Mcdonalds (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,63870,00.html)
Chicken 11-23-2002, 04:20 PM "When we're suing on behalf of children, it's hard to argue that a 6, or 8 or 10-year-old child has to take full responsibility for their decisions when they're lured into McDonald's by the toys and the playground and happy meals and the birthday parties," said attorney John Banzhaf.
This is just pathetic. Those kids should sue their parents for allowing them to eat this food and get so fat. Amazing where 6, 8, or 10 year old kids get their money. I only hope that Mr. Banzhaf is countersued and he loses every single dime he owns. These cases should be tossed out before they get far, but still...
f-a_org 11-23-2002, 08:33 PM Jackass is FUNNY !
